I dont know much about Tania.
Only what John Lee Anderson mentions about her in his book, CHE GUEVARA, A REVOLUTIONARY LIFE.
By the way, I did hear a movie about TANIA will be made soon. Hopefully, someone will be able to verify this.

Hasta la victoria siempre !

I remember reading about her in "The Bolivian Diaries". It was a long time ago (that I read it), but didn't she screw up with something fairly important?

Tania was Che Guevara's mole within the Bolivian government.

She was a spy of the KGB sent to Cuba because the USSR was afraid that Cuba would turn their back on them (Cuba became more anti-Russian & pro-Chinese then), according to his diaries Che would never have known her true identity.

and then guevara can hear her screams of death in his dream and is out to find her, but then dies a tragic death to...but in the after-life they will be together in love bla bla bla...maybe have Cameron Diaz play Tania and Brad Pitt play Che right? ;) And then have Liam something (Quoi Gon Gin from star wars episode 1) play Fidel Castro...

wouldnt we all just love that!

Liam Neeson :D

I would rather see Jonny Depp play Che and have Keira Knightly as Tania.

fernando

Ok...for minor roles you should have Orlando Bloom as Regis Debray.
And uhm...James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano) play Felix Rodriguez.
Oh..oh oh oh have Sean Connery play Fidel Castro!!!

who Camilo and Raul?

For Che we should use James Dean or John Travolta, if we want Che: The Musical!

fernando

No no it will be a blockbuster movie...like the ones we are seeing in the cinema lately...lots of special effects, making the movie look gigantic...and it has to take at least 2 and a half hours.

And Tania has to be some hot strong chick with attitude. While Che is actually some sadistic bad guy, but she still falls for him because deep inside he has a golden heart..but then they both die...and you see a big American flag waving through out the jungle...bringing peace and freedom to all...

Have Raul being played by uhm...who would look like Sean Connery?
Oh do you have a picture of Camilo, I dont know what he looks like.

But ok..back to Tania...look what I found:

http://www.angelfire.com/dc/1spy/Bunke.html#link
The attractive Tamara Bunke was a clever KGB spy who used her sexual wiles to influence the direction of the Cuban revolution, especially the course taken by Fidel Castro's roving minister of espionage and sabotage, Ernesto "Che" Guevara. Her assignment led her and her lover to violent death in the cause of Communism.

Bunke was born in Buenos Aires on November 19, 1937. At that time, her father, Erich Bunke was a professor of languages in that city. A dedicated Communist, Bunke moved his family to East Germany in the 1950s where he arranged for his daughter to study political science at Humboldt University, a Communist indoctrinational center for budding spies.

Upon graduation and through her father's influence, Bunke went to work for the East German Ministry of State Security. She willingly undertook several espionage missions that invariably involved sleeping with West German businessmen or officials who could later be blackmailed into delivering information. So successful was Bunke that the KGB inducted her into its ranks in 1961.

By that time Castro had taken over Cuba, but his brand of Communism was erratic and showed signs of becoming anti-Russian, particularly through Castro's chief adviser, Ernesto "Che" Guevara. A radical leftist all his life, Guevara was born in 1928 in Argentina. His mother was a dedicated Marxist who dominated her son, molding him into a Communist. Trained as a doctor, Guevara left Argentina upon his graduation from medical school in 1953 rather than serve in the Army under the direction of right-wing strong man Colonel Juan Peron.

Guevara traveled throughout South and Latin America, promoting the cause of Communism. In 1954, he attempted to organize resistance to the CIA's successful ouster of Guatemala's President Jacobo Arbenz Guzman. After taking refuge in the Argentine Embassy, Guevara escaped to Mexico where he met and befriended Fidel Castro. Together they planned the Cuban revolution. Guevara acted as Castro's top military commander and, following their takeover of the country, he asserted his belief that Cuba should follow the Communist concepts of China instead of becoming a Soviet satellite. This so alarmed the KGB that they sent the most alluring agent, Tamara Bunke to Cuba. She was ordered to become Guevara's mistress and guide him into the Soviet camp.

Using the alias Laura Gutterez, Bunke went to Havana and was introduced to Guevara as an ardent Communist from Buenos Aires. Aside from the sexual attraction, Guevara was immediately bonded to Bunke as a fellow Argentine, which is what the KGB had hoped would be the effect. Bunke became Guevara's mistress and took an active role in Cuban politics.

When Castro sent Guevara throughout Latin and South America to spread the Communist gospel, Bunke went with him, taking the revolutionary name of "Tania." Slowly, Guevara's thinking began to turn more and more away from Peking and toward Moscow, undoubtedly through the influence of the ever-faithful KGB agent, Bunke

Guevara went to Bolivia in 1967 but the peasant population there was unresponsive to Guevara's appeals. He and the few Cuban revolutionaries who accompanied him were looked upon as outsiders and they found themselves hunted as common criminals in the Bolivian wilds. To persuade local bandits to enlist in the Communist cause, Guevara paid them money and even offered the sexual delights of "Tania" to their chiefs. (Whether or not Bunke actually performed such acts of political prostitution is open to debate.)

On October 8, 1967, Bolivian Army units tracked down Guevara and his band near Higueras. All were slain in a firefight. Tamara Bunke, alias Laura Gutterez, alias Tania was killed. She was found to be four months pregnant. Upon studying Guevara's diaries, it is clear that he never knew Bunke's real identity or the fact that she was a KGB agent who had success-fully infiltrated the Cuban Communist hierarchy and the heart of one of its foremost leaders.

Is this true?

Alan Rickman in there as a Communist Vampire as well!

fernando

3 films:

1.The Marx Before Christmas, starring Alan Rickman as Communist Vampire, Sean Connery as Marx and Bill Murray as the happy Capitilist. No real plot, just lot's of Communist bashing

Return of the Vampire Marx, Alan Rickamn raises Marx from the dead and reaks havok upon the world before Maggie Thatcher and Reagen kill them all using Star Wars.

Che and Tania: Love in Bolivia! These two anti-heroes fall in love, kill some innocent civilians and get shot. Like Romeo and Juliet, but without all the pansieness!

4.Marx Revival!!! What about some movie later on...new communists try to revive Marx and Engels...and then thatcher and Reagan return to kill off those commu bastards for once and for all...of course Reagan leaves his wife Nancy (or whatever she is called) for Thatcher! In the end of the movie they go away for a far away island.

5. Next movie...The Thatcher Returns...Thatcher is at it again...saving the world from communism.

6.Pirates of Cuba: Evil communists pirates of Cuba kidnap hot photo models from Miami in order to brainwash then so they can seel the idea of communism in the US. Of course somebody has to stop this, a good white cop's daughter has been kidnapped too...he will go to Cuba with some Cuban Americans (who cant be trusted of course...they are not white ango saksic protestants) The Cuban Americans betray thewhite cop, but end up being killed by the even more treacherous communists. In the end the white cop beats all the communists and saves the sexy girls.

Hi, sorry to resurrect this topic...but in Jon Anderson's book he does not indicate that Tania was Che's lover, and online somewhere I saw that her mother vehemently denied that they had a relationship. Can anyone confirm or deny which is true??

Thanks!

I highly doubt Ernesto would ever have a relationship with her.In fact they didn't spend much time together in Bolivia before before separated due to the Bolivian military.I have read in Companero:The life and death of Che Guevara, that she was pregnant when she died but I find it more likely that she was impregnated by another soldier.

And the US president has to be a black lady...uhm maybe Whoopi Goldberg, to give it some true US realism

Another idea for a propaganda movie:
Nazi vs Socialist.

Some US scientist discovers a Soviet temple on the South Pole, he and his team go there to check out what it is, and find out that two species are locked in mortal combat...now they have to try to escape the temple, running from the Socialist workingclass hunters. But in the shadows lurks the merciless Nazi, ripping apart Socialists and Capitalists.

Che would be difficult because he is (I know this sounds cliche, but) he had a very specialp personality, and it would be very demanding to play him. I think John Travolta could do it... ^_^

Castro - Sean Connery

Scenario:

2030,
It's the new cold war. It's Cuba against America. America against Cuba. They are both heavily armed with sticks and stones, after after both nations fought a bloody war that destroyed the world by biological and neuclear wepaons. Castro (Sean Connery) fights off the imperilaists with a stick in one of his hand while holding the enemies heart in the other!

Later in the movie we find out that Che (John Travolta) has been awakened after Raúl gave the last remains of Che a kiss, and there he was, READY in a second, in his military uniform and with sticks in both his hands.

Castro later in the movie meets Che and they, after a while, falls in love with each other, and so Castro's homosexual life with Che begins.

ONLY ON DVD

EDIT: I'm bored <_<
