View Full Version : Americans and double standards

Americans see anybody who negotiates peacfully as weak and effeminate. Then they cry like girls when someone uses violence against them to make a point.

They say the French are cowards, and idiots when it comes to warfare. But they don't remember that the French saved their country. Americans also faill to see that the only countries they have been able to defeat, were poor countries who could barely feed themselves.

Americans have a constitution that say "a government, by, and for the people, we the people", or something in that effect, while they are, in reality, not serving the people, but the elite.

Americans say the United States of America, who supported the coup lead by the brutal Augusto Pinochet, who did in fact overthrow the democratic elected salvador allende, in 1973, 9/11 if I am not mistaken.

They have the liberty statue, but at the same time they hate liberals.

They say their country are ruled by the people, while they hate communism.

They say they love democracy while they are serving greedy capitalists. They say they love peace while in reality, they are beating the shit out of other countries, killing more people then Nazi Germany ever did.
They save they love freedom, while they are suppporting the patriot act. Americans say they are spreading human rights all over the world, while they are the biggest producer of torture tools, and right now, they are torturing prisoners to death in Iraq and Afghanistan, while their Generals saw it, while they knew about it before everyone else, but refused to publish it.

Not that I necessarily disagree with everything you have written, I dont think that double standards are exclusive only to the USA. I dont think that the USA is any more hypocritical and imoral than any other nation, i'm sure if they were in the USA's possition they would be just as bad.

Class not nation.

If you add up the deaths suffered from all wars the US was involved in, the result is more than 10 million people... or how many ever were killed by the holocaust.

I kinda agree that it's not a very good argument, but it cannot be denied that the oppression caused by corporate imperialism is more vast, exploits more people, and is a greater crime than the holocaust.

The United States has supported numerous dictatorships which killed hundreds of thousands, not to mention full-out wars, such as Iraq, North Korea, and Vietnam.

But I am in agreement with AK47, it is not merely America that is to blame, but all nations that are made *****es by the corporate class.

"10 million people"

What about WW2? Was that not a just war? Anyway, you seem to agree that it's not a good argument, so I won't be an ass and attack you on it.

I'm sure they have - but considering Nazi Germany was only really around for about 10-15 years whereas the USA has been around in it's current form for around 100. It's an incredibly unfair comparison. I'm sure if you were to take a mean (or median) average for deaths that the Nazi's would end out on top.

Still a pretty shitty 'score' from the US though ;)

Way to discredit yourself. Are you not familiar with the rules of misinformation and how when you use them they will undermine you?

The attitudes you outline are appalling of course, but it must never be forgotten that a lot of people who visit this site and other's of it's kind are kids who are trying to do research on Guevara. Type his name into google and this is one of the first returns you get.

So keep on flaming, it's going to get you far

I think the bottom line which should be understood is the simple fact that we are all human, and to some degree, are and will always have double standards... unfortunately the American Gov't seems to act on it more and try and cover it up... and that is bad.

Nazi Germany can account for 32 million deaths at the very least in ww2 (Russian front plus concentration camps) and I am sure t here are more victims to add to that list.

Americas record I would estimate off the top of my head is about 1/4 of that of the nazi regime. But America isn’t unique, France, Britain, Italy, Russia, China ect all have millions of deaths on their hands as well.

If America lost the cold war, the Russians would be the big evil bastards.

The Russians were evil bastards during the Cold War.

Also, every power in history that comes to dominance does so, and maintains it self, by being bastards.

What do you mean, in the view of the American public, or in the view of communists?

Of course to the American public as w ell as much of the world. The Russians them selves may be splintered like America is today or they may be fiercely nationalistic. But t he world overall wont look too kindly at them just as the world has never looked too kindly at t he big guy.

You are quite probably right ;) That said, I could assert that had the USSR won the cold war the US would've become a communist nation and Russia would be the 'capitalist pigs'

It has just as much basis in fact :D

Hey, don't take this too serious. I was on sleeping pills, and I tend to get a little irritated and jump to conclutions.

When it comes to Nazi Germany, I can put up a big list of all those who have died because of US involvement, wars etc.

We remember it. We also remember it was 200 years ago. Is Italy still the world's greatest military power? No. 2000 years ago they were.

Americans also faill to see that the only countries they have been able to defeat, were poor countries who could barely feed themselves.

Indeed. China has no money at all, and Germany is one of the weakest countries in the world. Spainish peasents starved everyday during the spanish-american war.

Contrast this to Great Britian. They conquered powerful nations such as India and South Africa. They crushed the weak americans in the war of 1812. They were not defeated by France.

Here is the real face of the "freedom loving" U$A:

"That admirable Italian gentleman" - President Roosevelt on Mussolini.

"little more than primitive savages" - Roosevelt on Haiti.

"The day is not far distant [when] the whole hemisphere will be ours in fact as, by virtue of our superiority of race, it is already ours morally" - President W.H Taft.

"Children [who] must obay as those who are in tutelage" - President Wilson on Filipinos.

Every country has its arrogant side. I am sure some Soviet Politician said something like, "sometimes children need discipline" when Soviet tanks rolled into Prague.
