I remember that someone made a topic about Dashboard Confessional already but I wasn't able to read the contents and reply. I know Dashboard is not a political band but they are really good. The lyrics by Cris Carraba are really great...well, in my opinion, that is. Is there anyone else here who shares my opinion?
As politely as possible: Oh God No!
I dont know what it is about this guy and his lyrics, but he just doesn't seem genuine to me. Regardles of his motives, the music is just too sappy. Just for the record I am basing my opinions on the few singles i've heard and dont know how an album sounds.

I have to agree with that one... its not really anything special lyrically, and being a musician, I fail to see any real talent inside Dashboard.

I did like him, but I don't anymore, got bored (thank fuck I never spent good money on any of his stuff) but i know quite a few people who really like him. Whatever. It's all a bit self-indulgent, and if I want whining and whingeing I can do it myself!
They recently toured Australia, I haven't heard them though, but I'm getting the impression they suck.

Dashboard can suck my left nut!
has anyone played the emo game? its hilarious! A bunch of bands get togethor to save the getup kids from steven tyler who kidnapped them and wants to rape them. all of the playable characters have special powers. Chris Caraba has the power of MEGA OVARIES!! the second emogame is alkaline trio in hell and the third game is an anti bush game.

Yea rap is so horrible nowadays. You know a genre is pathetic when all of the artists claim in their songs to be 'ghetto', then you see them on MTV 'rollin' in their 100 thousand dollar custom escalades, and their million dollar houses. Last time i checked beverly hills wasnt the ghetto. I really wanna see all these so called 'ghetto' rappers go into Compton and claim to be 'ghetto gangsta' and see what happens.

erm, sorry to break it to you robob, but I think GR was taking the piss.
And Ziggy, does that make alkaline trio emo? I wouldn't say they were, but they are fucking awesome, absolutely amazing. I adore them. Go out and buy their stuff and worship them.

Hahaha, AFI, I always wonder about those guys. Cos I always used to think they sounded quite punk, that's before the Sing the Sorrow LP (but I was quite young and ignorant about punk in those days) but they always say they'rr Goth, and I think some people say their hardcore (may be wrong on that one). How about being safe and calling them Rock? I guess they are quite emo, because they seem to be more "emotive" than anything else, although in a lot of ways I would call them Goth, with lots of other influences and a very "american" sound. That ok?

lol. Yeah, I don't really like them, but that's probably because my ex adored them and they make me cry, for no apparent reason.

its just a shame that not too many people can appreciate singer/songwriters anymore

don't think i could listen to them all the time but the 1st album i really got into. His lyrics and emotion are genuine and yeah i do like they're music. The guy obviously has been throuhg a lot and if you've experienced something similar you can really appreciate the music more.

Dashboard Confessional's album recording, first session:
Chris Carabba opens the flipchart to reveal the following equation:
shallow sadness + good hair = $$$$$$$
*The board applauds*
The CEO chuffs on a cigar and in his gruff voice compliments Mr Carabba.
"Someone's getting a pay raise at the end of this quarter"
Did you guys hear that DC is releasing some kind of marketing gimmick condoms to promote safe sex? I for one applaud them, anything that stops DC fans from procreating is good in my books!
(btw I listened to some of their songs, they're rubbish)
