View Full Version : Images of Palestinians

This is a thread to post and discuss images of Palestinians, both those that depict Israeli oppression and those that depict resistance (even if a particular one is only in a symbolic way)

I'm sorry if an example of Israel's brutality offends you. If you would like to have an example of what you said then I suppose you could create a Zionist thread.

It was clearly noted that this thread would contain photos of both Palestinian resistance and Israeli oppression. If you were not prepared to see such an example of Israeli brutality then you should not have viewed it.

By the way, I did look up, "burned Israeli babies," on google, but it was a null search. "Dead Israeli babies," turned up pictures of Israeli brutality.

This is a great thread. The people thank 'Kurai_Tsuki' for his (?) wisdom; and for sharing those images so readily!

I'll add a couple of my favourites - though I'm sure they've been seen many times before! No matter. This first one is quite beautiful; one might almost think it had been staged. A kid, possibly no older than eight or nine, faces a heavily armoured tank - with no more then a pebble.

What makes this picture all the more poignant is the fact that the boy was killed only a week after the photo was taken. Yes- by Israeli forces. :(

The Children of the Revolution
3rd June 2004, 11:49
This next one is a strong symbol of resistance! The photo was taken under heavy fire - yet still, the Palestinian flag flies... (Ok, perhaps a tad nationalistic, but the focus is on the unyielding rebel, not the country of his origin! :P )

The Children of the Revolution
3rd June 2004, 11:56
One more - not so much of a resistance photo, perhaps, but a dramatic reminder of the nature of Israeli repression in the region. As you can see, the photo shows Palestinian youths (some look only ten or twelve) sent sprawling by gunfire from Israeli troops.

Something must be done about the situation; that much is certain.

Yes, this is a very famous image. Once when I was in Lebanon they played a political commerical with a video of this incident, and the text in the commercial read something very close to, "Stronger than your weapons. Stronger in the heart." Thank you for sharing it.

Wow! I didn't realise it had been that well used!

Thank you for sharing it.

No problem at all! :)

In fact, here's another. This one is about a year old, I think - similar to the first. Again, it shows the common "symbol of repression" (the Israeli armoured tank) and the nature of the Palestinian resistance. And once more, the kid can't have seen his tenth birthday...

This picture is misleading... everything else I accept, but the Israeli army enforces bizarre conscription laws stating that every member must carry their rifle at all times on pain of 7 year imprisonment.

Bear in mind how many people there are out there who are unwilling/unable to stand up for themselves and will then be put into this kind of scenario. It's intolerable that Israel does this, but it doesn't change the facts any

Unfortunately that picture makes the soldier look far more aggressive than he doubtlessly intended to be. I've actually met a few Israeli soldiers, and I'll agree that the vast majority do accept the crap they are spoonfed, but don't discount all on the basis of some idiots.

I have a few people who I would be happy to call comrades who are currently stuck serving in the Israeli army.

As for the Iraqi death toll - 8800, 11,000, what does it matter? A death toll of 1 is too many. We all know the war was unjust from the start; it's just a shame some cretins continue to praise our "glorious" troops for their efforts... :(
