What is the "tragedy of the commons"

Are you free to leave under a Communistic society?

How are the rights of the minority protected from a dictatorship of the majority?

In the absense of property rights, how do you prevent a "tragedy of the commons" from occurring?

Why has every hitherto "Communist" revolution resulted in having a party convey and expropriate the power of the proletariat into their own hands? Examples include USSR, Cuba, China, Poland, Yugoslavia, Algeria, Nepal, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Cambodia, North Korea, Bulgaria, etc...

That certianly a big list of questions.

Where would it go?

The problem is, many of the questions, if not all of them, will be answered differently by people who all claim to be communist etc. If you want an Anarchist FAQ, then fine, if you want a Leninist FAQ then that's something compeltely different?

If people are going to co-operate together in the future, and do so even with different viewpoints, this would be a good start.
The list will be used, at least in my community, to educate people on communism and the likes. Therefore, we create it together, and everyone who wants, can use it to educate people.

We would of course have different answers on the very same questions. This is not something bad, in fact, it can turn out to be good.

One answer from the Marxist
One from the Leninist
One from the Anarchist etc.

That way the person who will be reading the FAQ can recognize the different characters, and then choose their own answer, and so they will have a broader understanding.

What is the difference between communism and Communism?

communism and Communism are often assumed to be the same, though differences pervade througout the tenets of each ideology.

That is not to say that communism or Communism are hermetically sealed subjects, the two often overlap; and the line to draw between communism and Communism is often a hard one to pinpoint.

What makes a communist a communist and not a Communist?

And what makes a Communist a Communist and not a communist?

These are difficult questions, though I shall not answer them here, for I have not the time or the wont.

Me thinks the lady doth protest to much!

I would be willing to throw my two bit in if it was required of me. Anything to help those with no idea.

I was only joking over Justice's typo.

Seriously though, I will be able to help (possibly) in a couple of weeks. Only I have exams very soon, so I'm trying (with little success) to concentrate on that right now.

I'll reply some questions here with my views, but not with those two (maybe later). Good idea btw.

What is the difference between Anarchy and Marxism.

Marxists think that the state is necessary for a transition from capitalism to communism, and to defend the revolution from possible reactions by the bourgeoisie.

Can an Anarchist be a Marxist?:

It is possible. Usually Anarchists think that the idea of the "Workers State" and of the "dictatorship of the proletariat" are not necessary and could be inefficient, counter-revolutionary and end up becoming a "dictatorship over the proletariate", with the creation of a new class. There are also some other smaller differences with Marxism but still an Anarchist can be pretty close to Marxism.

What is fascism?

Fascism is a political system that holds the nation, the state and authority as the most important values. Fascism is an authoritarian and usually militarist system, which emphasizes the nation's progress, usually supporting the notion that the nation exists thanks to the state, and that it needs good leaders to help it. Fascism protects private property and keeps the capitalist market but tries to control it through a corporatist system to ensure that both the bourgeois and proletarian classes cooperate to help "the Nation's interests".
Fascist regimes are usually associated with authoritarianism, imperialist nationalism, militarism, corporatism, Social Darwinist-styled ideas ("the strong should survive and the weak should perish"), chauvinism, totalitarianism, and sometimes excessive patriotism and racism.
Fascist regimes tend to attack different minorities and they search scapegoats (usually leftists, foreigners, Jews, liberals, "trouble-makers", disabled people, other races, certain religious groups, etc.) who they attack and blame a lot for the nation's problems.
Fascism is usually socially conservative and associated with feudalism. Fascist regimes generate great concentration of power and use a lot of propaganda and repression.
Most leftists recognize fascism as a reactionary system which usually appears as a reaction to a capitalist crisis and the advance or spread of leftists ideas and actions (workers taking factories, for example).

I'll try to post some other definitions later.
