does anyone find it suspicious that America is put on a terror alert as more and more of the iraq torture photos are appearing? it seems like a good way to get some people to forget all about the photos in time for elections.

No doubt about that in my mind.
Its funny how some White House official wanted to go on breakfast TV to remind people about terrorism, but no-one wanted him on, and then sudenly the White House issues a terror-warning without even increasing the risk status.
Its just electionering.

does anyone remember after september 11th a woman in the british government sent an email saying that it was a good day to bury bad news? the recent terror alert reminded me of that in a way, as the american government obviously see a terror alert as a good way to bury the iraq torture photos.

Yeah, I remember her, what was her name? Jo Moore I think.
That was disgusting, and just another example of what the right will do o ook good.

I think what sickens me the most is the fact that a substantial number of people in various countries dont see the iraqi's as people, they see them as mere numbers if anything. these people are human beings with feelings but sadly lots of people dont see it that way.
On tv a few days ago a bbc reporter was asking people in washington dc what they thought of the photos and one guy just said;
"We need to forget about this and move on as soon as possiable"
I just felt so disgusted that someone could just say that after what has happened in those photos and the atrocities in Iraq in general. He just showed no emotion regarding the photos at all. I do realise that his opinion is not a one off but also i find it so hard to understand how another human being can be so cold.

Exactly. People need to realise that just because people dress differntly and speak a different language they are still human beings with exactly the same rights as yourself. If those pictures were of Iraqis abusing Americans, the U$ people would call for Iraq to be nuked.
This is indirect racism.

This terror alert or whatever you want to call it was just another propaganda ploy to get people to forget about the prisoner abuse that's going on in Iraq. It's a method that was researched in the MKULTRA program to spread propaganda through the corporate mainstream media. They know that by putting out this list of "al-qaeda terrorist" people will be full of fear and do whatever the government tells. What a Fascist state.

That's all but too common here, unfortunately.

simlarly the guy who stated that "We need to forget about this and move on as soon as possiable"
if it was his family, his friends in those photos he wouldn't want them to just be forgotten and brushed under the carpet so to speak just so that Bush can have another term in office. if he had had an attack dog held inches away from his face he wouldnt want it forgotten so quickly and treated as an inconvienience to the west, but as usual its one rule for one person and then a different rule for another, it makes me so angry.

exactly, and there is a same opinion about that famous "Nick Berg" film.for example there is no evidence that who those murderers really are.

edit:right now I read the thread "Berg Video Camera Exact Same as Abu Ghraib prison",that helps my idea seems true.

I think it is a desperate attempt to create patriotism before the elections heat up. Who knows maybe Bush'll call Osama and beg for another attack on america. That'll cement his hold on america for another four years.

I've noticed that they see them more than numbers. They look at the whole middle east and see only savages. They see them just as americans saw the natives during the western expansion. THey believe that the only way to bring peice to the area is for an american to rule Iraq

Too right, but I think it stretches further than that. They think that anyone who isn't of a white, western-European descent, and is poor is a savage.

So... no-one thinks that they might just be a little bit more of a target (if that's possible of course) after they were shown to be abusing their POW's ? It would seem logical.

So if you don't mind I'll collect in those foil hats now...
