I wrote this just now.

I knew about this but I never knew about the long term effects it had on the
Vietnamese People. More than 30 years ater the war it is still seriously hurting
the people. I was disgusted after watching a documentary on it, and just had to
get out the feelings that it left me with.

Agent Orange
You over powered them,
towered them with might.
You pounded them;
you shook the earth.
You seemed superior,
the enemy seemed inferior;
in every way possible.
But you couldn't see them.
They seemed invisible.
They seemed indestructible.
What made your enemy stronger,
and what made the war longer?
Your enemy's will to fight for a better future!
Your enemy's patriotism to beat foreign invaders!
So you could not beat them,
you could not defeat them.
You sprayed poison,
killed all the plant life.
Killed the people too,
with a long term effect issue.
Even affected your own troops
and this you could not deny...
Years later people still die.
Years later you still lie.
Babies are born deformed,
others couldn't conceive them.
You compensated the victims in sight,
because of your own national outcry.
The ones you couldn't see in the first place,
remain unseen victims of your true disgrace...
The brave Vietnamese People,
victims of you, U.S. Imperialists!
and a chemical called "Agent Orange."

Thank you Comrades!

I really appreaciate you taking the time to reply.

I post my writings on [email protected] to try and get critcism but non of them will touch. I can't even get negative remarks. They all just want to hear crappy love poems or fantasy crap.

I have not been writing very long.

I have tried before but I always ended up feeling to shy to post it publically, or I would not like it and just destroy it.

The feelings I had this time where just so strong. I felt that this was something atleast worthy of other people seeing.

I am really glad to get such positive criticism for you all. I am going to keep writing, and I'll post some more.

-Marcel.

Good poem man, I showed it to my girlfirend and it made her cry ! She is a product of Cambodians exiled by Pol Pot. Many of her relatives died in the U.S bombing runs in East Cambodia. Her birth father (whom she has never met) is probably dead from Agent Orange, and doctors fear that she may have some ill effects from it as well.
