CHRIST CHOSE THE FISHERMAN BECAUSE HE WAS A COMMUNIST`
HAVANA, July 14 (Reuters) - Cuba's Catholic-educated President Fidel Castro, one of history's most famous communists, believes Jesus Christ shared his political faith.
``Christ chose the fishermen, because he was a communist,'' Castro said in comments carried by state media on Friday, referring to Christ's choice of humble fishermen from the Sea of Galilee to be his first disciples.
Castro, whose once-stated atheism is believed to have possibly mellowed in recent years, made the comment during a National Assembly debate on the local fishing industry.
His brother Raul Castro -- second-in-command in the ruling Communist Party headed by Fidel Castro -- concurred entirely. ``I think that's why they killed Jesus, for being a communist, for doing what Fidel defined as Revolution ... that is to say, changing the situation,'' he said.
Fidel Castro, 73, was educated at a Jesuit-run High School in Havana. But after his 1959 Cuban Revolution, he established a socialist and officially atheist state, and declared himself a non-believer. Church-state ties were tense.
Castro has said that legendary leftist guerrilla Ernesto ``Che'' Guevara probably would have been ``made a saint'' if he had been a Catholic because he had ``all the virtues.''

Of course Jesus was a commie, christianity is communism with how much the bible is loaded with anti-greed quotes, no matter how much fundamentalists will tell you about how communism is a society without religion (No, that would be a society with Money)

Well unfortunately, no matter how many virtues you have or how faithful you are, you can only kill so many people before the Church will decide that you're not up for sainthood. Even if he were a Catholic, I doubt the Vatican would be too proud of him. Think about it: How many saints are soldiers? None, as far as I know. (Tell me if I'm wrong, though.)

A true saint was the catholic priest Maximillian Kolbe.
He was in Auschwitz and gave his life to save a man who had a wife and children. Then in the underground starvation room he kept the rest of the prisoners alive with prayer and after he had lasted for 2 months a German soldier let him out and injected him with Carbolic acid. He was made a saint in the 1980s

I Will Deny You, I think there were several militant saints. Ignatius Loyola for one. But that was way back when and i suppose the church condones war less now.
As for communism and Christianity, I seem to remember something in the bible *the book of Proverbs, methinks) that says something like:
Throw in your lot among us. Let us all have one common purse.

Jesus was the first communist, without knowing that. He declared equality and protested against rich.
Christianity, as religion was a carrier of revolutionary ideas , which broke all regressive views of ancient society. Later it was used for the good of class exploiters- kings, pope and feudals. They were talking that god have choosed them to be rich. But it was just a bunch of bullshit. Ordinary people couldn't even read and didn't know what was written in Bible, so they believed to those who talked lies about god's will.
Socilaist states don't need to refuse from religion. All world religions are ideologically close to communist theory. We can use this close connection and the masses will go after us!

Fidel Castro the old commy dog. Hes a right good chap. I can see why he thinks jesus was a communist. He did evrything for other people and nothing for himself.
Jesus crist, the almighty symbol of good in this world.
Che has to have been a saint. He worked for the good of free Cuba and its future, he did kill many people though. the church wouldnt approve of that.

The Cathars didn't believe in property ownership or sex discrimination, but they were all killed in the second crusade so I doubt any of them are saints. But they created one of the few truly communist societies.

SPARTACUS
c.109 - 71 BC
Thracian Gladiator
Spartacus was born in Thrace, became a soldier, and was captured by the Romans. He was sold as a slave to be made a gladiator. With 70 comrades, he escaped, hid on Mount Vesuvius, and raised a large army of rebel slaves. With his army he defeated two Roman legions. Spartacus intended to lead the slaves over the Alps and out of Italy, but the slaves forced him to march on Rome. A fresh Roman army under Crassus finally defeated Spartacus and his men. After his defeat, 6000 men were crucified along the Via Appia as a warning to other slaves.

Joan of Arc?
I've always beleived that Jesus was a socialist. Anyhow I don't think Che was a saint and he'd laugh at anyone calling him one. Perhaps the first saint to joke with his colleagues about whoring around when he was younger. Changed my mind, he is a saint......

my dad, who is both a minister and a moderate leftist, has told me many times that jesus was a leftist revolutionary. he may be right. I'm still an atheist, but, I guess there's some truth to that.

The problem is that people that read Bible, don´t know what they are reading.
Of course I am not Christian and I do not believe of God of any kind.
But I am religious. I believe in people. I believe people can be people and not animals.

If you are religious, it does not mean you believe in God or religions that most people know.
Being a communist is some kind of religion, you believe in people, and people believe in you (Well that is how it should be ;)).

don't know if anyone has said this but in this ''communist## bible didn't Jesus rain sulphur down on a city of homoosexuals or something dumb like that?

revolutionary sprit, do you mean on the town of sodom and gomorrah? The bible is not explicit in saying that there was homosexuality going on there. It was God not Jesus.
See Genesis Chapter 18 and 19 for the destruction of Sodom.

With reading the bible it's best not to take everything in it literally, but rather as a metaphor. Similar to reading poetry.
And as supermodel pointed out, the destruction of Sodom was in Genesis and long before Jesus (or the prophesies.) Jesus was the friend of sinners so I would assume that he would be tolerant of homosexuals.

Yep Mary Magdolin was a prostitute. Although in the Bible it never said Jesus she was his wife.
However, Hindus believe Jesus probably was married because at such a time to not be married would have been extraordinarry and would have certainly been mentioned.

The Hindus are probably right.
Weren't the Carolingians supposedly descendants of Jesus + Mary Magdalene?

speaking of hindus, the parsis (a persian religious group in india) believe that jesus went to india when he was young. you know that huge gap in the bible, between when jesus is a kid and when he grows up? the parsis say that he went to india then, and apparently there are cave drawings and stuff to back it up.
nothing to do with the topic, just something i find interesting.

True HI, Many Taoists believe Jesus was a Taoist and studied in the far east.
The disciple Thomas is believed to have gone to India because there's a community of Christians in southern India who have no connection with Rome. There's also a tomb which is believed to be his Tomb.

Hey, I'm seeing stuff here I never heard before about Jesus!! Are there any web resources about this? Did Jesus visit the roof of the world trade center? He was at Disneyworld, I know cause he left his grafitti in the toilet.
Anyhow, Mary Magdalene is the coolest gal in the bible...

which reminds me... as it is all over the news here in New York. There is a young Crotain priest, around my age (he's 30) in the Bronx or Brooklyn, one of the two-- who has the stigmata. He is drawing huge amounts of crowds and has to make special appearances to appease the mobs.
Psychosomatic? Miraculous? Hoax?
Interesting anyhow... and he's very good looking too. Hope he's not part of that pedophilia consortium. Bastards!!!!
