I live in the United States and have heard no such thing on the news. Something like that would get a lot of publicity, so I'm sure it didn't happen, though I know many Conservatives would be all for it.

I'm not American, but I know of Bush's desire to stop abortion, but as yet he has done nothing to ban it.
Yet again, a leader is trying to impose their religous beliefs on their country. It is wrong!

 I heard that what they have done was impose many restrictions and roadblocks to access.

although I am against abortion, it should be allowed to people, and anyone who trys to impose their conservative moral "high grounds" on us should be bitten by a TB carrying badger!

After a certain stage it should be illegal, but in the first few weeks it is fine.
Frederick_Engles, are you trying to include your religous beliefs in your opinions?
That is the kind of thing Bu$h does, and is the opposite of Marxism.

Well, It all depends on when you define something as an embryo and when it is a child. Personally I think people should be allowed to choose themselves.

As said, It really depends on when what you define as being a baby. Otherwise most of the world's male population would be charged with genocide.

Besides, if people do not want a baby they usually make Pretty damn sure that they don't.

Those damn Conservatives. I really do hope they don't come into power in Britain. But, then, its not as if anyone else has a chance of coming to power. They're all as bad as each other.

" I heard somewhere that Bush has closed down nearly all the abortion clinics in the U$"

That's badly exaggerated. Abortion is still legal, nor does Bush personally have the power to change that....at least constitutionally.

There has been a dangerous decrease in access to abortion, especially for rural women, reflected in the numbers of abortion clinics. This has developed under Democratic as well as Republican administrations.

An article on this increasingly restricted access (http://www.themilitant.com/2004/6817/681703.html)

what bush did was restrict insurance companies from providing abortion under their coverage

which does address the problem we should all have with this "medical procedure"

the way in which it is conducted for the purpose of generating capital

check out JOHN Q for info, as the message there applies to all activities that must be performed by a doctor

the loaf of bread example works here

a loafe of bread is worth twenty cents if you make it yourself

but you pat a dollar twenty for it

because the raw materials are purchased with PROFIT added to it. they are baked and sold with PROFIT added to it. then, they are put on a store shelf to generate more PROFIT.

same with abortion. between the nurses and the doctors, the facilities, the equipment and the insurance companies, all levels have PROFIT added to it. and as a PROFIT generating "service", it is defended in order to allow for this PROFIT to be generated.

 I can not believe what has happened to the U$....people seem to have sat by while governments have slowly erroded their basic rights....what is going on?

It also appears that EVERYTHING in that country is looked at through Money-hungry eyes....no thought to the rights of people.
