I am still a communist learner, but a communist nonetheless. My question is since socialism is where the workers control the industry and their are no classes....isnt that communism? What is the major difference between Socialism and Communism?

I think you will find the following two links valuable:
- What is Socialism? An Attempt at a Brief Definition. (http://redstar2000papers.fightcapitalism.net/theory.php?subaction=showfull&id=1082900868&archive=&cnshow=headlines&start_from=&ucat=&)

Real brief, I'd say socialism is were it still is classes, but the biggest class the proletariat has taken control over the means of production and in communism its no classes and the people own it all together. That's just basic of basic, there is much more to it and I suggest you read those links comrade jamie provided.

because I have the same experiences as the average fourteen year old, I will relate this difference in terms of comic books.
communists are like magneto and the brotherhood. they are more readily willing to risk themselves and destroy the working social order in order to fascilitate the necessary change that cannot be stopped. are revolutionaries and, in many ways, are dangerous. remember, most of the "powers" in these books are metaphores of some kind. like magneto. magnetism defines the polar axises of the world. the world being turned upside down, so to speak, would be the erradication of capital and the construction of a global commune. so, metaphorically, his power to modify the world as it had been divided, during the cold war, on a BIPOLAR axis ( ala america vs. russia THROUGH the polar axis).
socialists are like xavier and the x-men. they would rather protect the current social order so as to prevent revolution in the hopes that change will manifest itself naturally. on terms of IDEOLOGY, they are almsot entirely identical. except for the process through which to modify the social order of the world. like Magneto will hold the world hostage to bring about revolution. Xavier will send in the XMen to rescue orphans so as to prove there is nothing to fear.
get it? good. because I don't FEEL like writing a three thousand word essay here. was assigned a ONE HUNDRED WORD one. a proof. and three words later I'm stuck.

It depends on how you define the two, marxists generally believe that socialism is a state, or form of government that must exist before leading into a communist state, they also call it the dictatorship of the proletariat.
But another view of the situation is that socialism is a broad term which encompasses practically all forms of government where the means of production and property are equily distributed among every one.
Communism is a much more refined version of this. Communism is infact an absolutly classesless society, for one. Read into it, redstar wrote a rather good and consise artical on it, I believe comrade james has posted this artical.
