Go to my site (link below) and read Communists and Religion, Parts 1 - 10.

Religion is always reactionary.

There's already numerous religion threads open now, so I won't get into it here, but I'm curious as to why you say that Latin America is 'the most communist area in the world.' If leftists do have wide support there, it's because it's poor, which is what helped the catholic church get such a hold on it.

We're not against religion, but as Marxists we are against organised religion as it exists to exert power over the general population.
Just look at Iraq and see how organised religon has people following clerics like Motaqa al Saddr blindly because he gives religous reasons for things, but really all he wants is power.
The Church suppressed the people of Europe for centuries by controlling what they learnt and what they believed in.

The idea that Christianity teaches you to accept your lot on earth whatever your situation, and that your reward will be in heaven is against what communists believe, we wish to improve life for the workers now rather than watch the workers suffer as they wait for "heaven".

Although I find that also it is down to how people interpret religion and use it for there own needs, e.g. Manifest Destiny, killing in the name of Allah etc. which makes it so unpopular with leftists.

Marxists are opposed to religion AND ALL FORMS OF SPIRITUALITY (for all y'all talkin about "I'm against organized religion ...) because we are materialists. We believe that people and processes here on earth determine the course of history, and we fight against any notion that "other forces" play a role. Mysitcism is a subsitute for scientific understanding of how the world works. And as for organized religion, it's a tool used by the ruling class to instill it's ideology in the heads of the class it oppresses. It is widely accepted by the masses because they are OPPRESSED. Their lives are SHITTY. They turn to FALSE HOPE of an afterlife because their lives here are HOPELESS. And, in case you're wondering, a revolution would never ban religion. We would ban state funding for religious institutions, but we wouldn't ban the practice because materialist concpetion is that religion would eventually disappear as the social conditions that make people turn to religion (immiseration, lack of education) disappear.

personally if i ran a country id let the people beleive what they wanted, as long as the church dont start robbing money and filling up with paedo priests like here in britain there shouldnt be too much trouble, and hell even if the bible clashes strongly with marxism, no-one in the countrys gonna know cos no-one reads the bible

I'm only saying I'm against organised religion so as to not offend anyone, but personally I am against ALL religion, but if I lead a country I wold not impose that belief on the people.
