I heard there was also a film about Che called "The motorcycle Diarys". It tells the story when che made a journey through south america with his friend Alberto Granada before he left to fight for the revolution. There is also a book that is made up of pieces of Che's diary which Che wrote during his trip. Its a very good book and maybe the Film will be as good as the book.
I think the director of the film is Walter Selles or something...and the Guy that plays Che is a mexican actor..dont know his name though

Gael Garcia Bernal, the film has received rapturous plaudits from almost every critic Iv'e read or seen on the box.. It seems he's done a really good job with it..

Walter Salles also directed Central station, an excellant Brazilian film, he describes the motorcycle diaries, quite aptly - as Das Kapital meets easy rider...

Is Central Station about that boy and that women who go to find his dad after his mum dies? If so its a pretty good film, very moving!

I found a horrible article in the express on friday about this film, basicaly calling Che a stalinist and saying that he journeyed round South America with his Stalinist wife "Aleda!"

Went onto say "i'm sure we can expect Che and Aleda to discuss the glory of Stalins purges on the backdrop of the fine Latin Scencry!

I kid you not! If i get time I will scan it in!

That is laughable, articules like that make me want to write into newspapers, but what's the point? They don't print any letters which seriously undermine thier "reporters".. The express has really gone to the dogs..

Yes that is Central Station you described, a really touching and underrated movie..

my english teacher made us watch it, I didn't have high hopes for it as it seemed like a little wussy liberal movie of the kind my english teacher likes (with subtitles, hidden meanings and lots of foreign people suffering at the hands of imperialists so he can show us all how horrible we are) but it was pretty good, quite touching really, subtitles were a bit irritating but a good film, if you get a chance then watch it!

Che is a Marxist-Leninist though. And he supported Stalin's purges. Although I doubt the Express would have anything good to say in general.

Yes but its the way they said it as if Che was a "Stalinist" just to cause people pain and suffering. When combined with them Mistaking Mial for Alieda Marche and then spelling Alieda wrong, you can see the kind of conceited fools we are dealing with!

Not to mention the fact that the motorcycle diaries are only about Che's journey with Alberto Granado, and chart his political awakening which grew from the suffering they witnessed..

Maybe we should write into the express! That article is quite shocking!

Yes, newspapers like the Guardian do the same thing. They will even call Tony Blair a Stalinist in a certain context.

I don't disagree with you about the Express.

It would be a full time job, corresponding with these nuts.. The Mail is the worst but the main cocksucker is Richard LittleJohn of the Sun, If I read one of his bigoted, little Englander articules I usually throw up or pass out through fury..

doesnt the express now belong to Richard Desmond the 'porn barron' guy? there was an article in private eye recently about how he seems to make infinate numbers of racist comments and such.
