Did ye all hear about trimbles proposal for a vote on a united IRELAND?
I think if jerry adams wants this proposal to go ahead he is a fool.
The only reason the unionists wanna vote on a united Ireland is cuz they know that in the year 2010 the caothlic population will be in a majority in the north, very sneaky, very smart but very obvious!

Sinn Fienn and the SDLP have welcomed the vote,
the point is that placing it on the unionist agenda
for the first time is a victory, no matter to the outcome of the vote. The sooner it occurs then the sooner we can have the next referendum.
This is a chance to show all and sundry, how a United Ireland would benefit both communities and highlight the real fears of protestant workers of a move backwards towards feudal catholic laws. It can only be a progressive step in the right direction. Lets not let our ideals get in the way of real benefits.

as long as large american firms like dell & faisers keep on making employment & the economy keeps booming then the faster Ireland should become united, but the unionist idea of a UI vote is not gonna be good for the north when the vote isn't passed, because it wont be passed!
This will lead back to the old violent road of 69'.
Nobody wants that back!

Hadn't heard about it but it sounds like a brilliant move. The Unionists can be in the driver's seat for the unification deal.

Watch the republicans turn around and say no!!! We wanna keep popping each other off!!

Comrade, Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
The unionists are falling into our trap, putting our agenda on the table. A defeat won't lead to violence but concentrate the debate on the real issues. All we will
learn is how much work is needed to be done. Aleady a majority are for a United Ireland on the mainland of the britain. Let us shove it up right up them. As you say we wont go away!

I see your point.I think it's a good one but it could also be a repeat of the 1921 treaty, and will give the unionists an excuse to stay in power in the north.
