It is an Arab celebration method to fire guns into the air. Unfortunately, the Americans in Iraq were not aware of this tradition; a local man said that 100 bombs were dropped on the area (by American planes). The was also the element of overkill; the entire village was leveled.

Can't the Iraqis have any fun anymore?

A bunch of idiots these U.S. officials are! They are making a mess and a lot of innocent American civilians will have to pay for with their lives--- not if but when another terrorist attack is launched by Al Qaeda.

I wouldn't underestimate the intelligence of American officials. There is a big difference between being stupid and having evil intentions.

However it is still unclear which was the motivator in this particular attack.

I think they are stupid, evil people.

You ingrates! Don't you know that they're protecting your freedoms?! How ignorant some people are!
[/end jingoism]

I always thought America was into maintaining traditions and traditional values and such. Next time some dumbass Republican goes hunting I hope a few hundred bombs drop on his terrorist ass.

Yeah imagine the case if at a wedding in the U.S somebody fired a gun into the air to celebrate and the U.S millitary bombed them killing forty people or however many this killed. It's madness, there's no way you can justify it, especially as "officially" the war is over.

They carpet bombed an entire village, I'm thinking it was a bit more than forty. Probably at least 200. Some solid numbers would be good, though.
