It's Welsh, and it's novelty music. Like all novelty music, the poseurs will bum it for a while and then get sick of it and move onto the next fad.
Give me The Streets anyday.

The irony is painful

Right.
Remind me to disregard your opinions in future.

Of course the streets are way better, because it's about real life and whatnot, and GLC is about havin' a larf. Sure the streets will outlive them, thank god.
toastedmonkey, how much of the streets have you actually listened to? I admit I haven't heard either album all the way through but I've heard quite a few of the tracks on the second one and they're absolutely amazing.

I think the streets are pretty good, I'm not sure what novelty music is but Techno/hip-hop sounds like a novelty to me.

I'd love for ToastedMonkey to list his favorite bands so I can tear them apart.
I don't even listen to The Streets, but I have heard them/that guy (whatever), it isn't bad shit. Plus, if rap isn't talking fast, then tell me what it is please.

They come with tounge's firmly planted in cheeks in case you didn't notice, it's a joke, calm down..
The streets on the other hand actually beleive he is some kind of musical genius, when all he is doing is white man chatter over London beats, if that isn't novelty I don't know what is, I mean the guys a brummie for fuck's sake why does he put on this mockney accent? He is shit and the GLC are safe as fuck, bumba oompa clart!
They aint political (so why are they on here?), but heard of them quite a while ago and Clart, they are safe as fuck!
You Knows it Clart!

Oh dude fuck off. Seriously. (Incidentally, that song sucks, but you suck more, ergo...)
The Streets is a shockingly accurate description of what it's like to be young in the UK. Their first record sold so well cos it spoke so much to so many people. And you can be arrogant and conceited about it, and tut tut at the lives of the damn morons, but guess what...these are the ****s you wanna "liberate".
Noone says you have to like it, but to sit here and write it off as a guy "talking fast"...christ, you must have real issues.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Mick Skinner moved from Birmingham to London, hence the line in "Has it Come to This?" about his tube route.
Oh yeah, and in terms of lyrics, give me The Streets - It's Too Late over some "I Am the Walrus" bullshite.

I'd still like to know what rap is if it not fast talking.
Hampton

If it's not fast talking it's still being an mcee. The rule is that it dosen't have to be fast although most of it is. Take something like Rappers Delight, The Message or Ice Cube's Today as a good day, all aren't particularly fast in terms of lyrics, but they all are rap songs.
Then you have a dude like The Streets or a Baby Dayliner, a guy from New York, who pretty much just talk over a beat, at least I thinks that what he does I don't listen to much of Streets, or even Snoop Dogg, who is the king of being lyrically larthagic as far as flow goes, can still make good music.
It's just diffrent styles, the more dominant one being the quick delivery.
