Has anyone else here followed the events of the Imashagen (Touareg) struggle for rights in Mali, Niger, Algeria and Libya?
just curious to see if other people have followed these proud warrior's resitance over the years.

I've heard of them,nomads dating back centuries ago but I thought they had been assimilated into cities and towns.

mmmmm....Nomad has alot of negative connotations associated with it, and i'm hoping you did not intend those associations.....
yes some Imashagen (as I will call them instead of the more commonly used, but derisive term Touareg (which means abandoned by the god/s)(also Imashagen means "Noble and Free" in Tamasheq, the Imashagen language...they also sometimes call themselves the Kel Tamasheq(meaning "[people] of tamasheq[the language]") ) do live in towns and cities, but untill the early 90's had little or no rights, and were a hated and persecuted minority, because of their history of dominance of the Sahara and its lucrative trade routes.
They are a noble people who have struggled long and hard for any form of rights
