Why is Che such a "Cult figure"? He is known by nearly everybody and you see people wearing t-shirts with his famous picture on who don't even know him or what he did.do you think he is not too much of a figure like Kurt Cobain,David Beckham ect :che: :cuba:

I would never compare Che to a drug addict like like Cobain.

Personally I had already read half of Guevara, Also Known as Che, Guerilla Warfare, his account of the Cuban revolutionary war and several of his speeches before I wore his t-shirt.

But there are others who wear his image without knowing anything about him. They really annoy me too, especially the ones who come onto this forum and ask who he is. They should take the time to learn about him and his life before doing buying any clothing or joining any forum connected to him.

Even the information that's provided on this site would be great. Although on a side note, I thought it was better when different bios written by people who knew so much about him were posted as opposed to the current Wikipedia article.

It really pisses me off when I see people wearing Che T-Shirtswho don't know who he is. You should about someone before you idolise them.

What kind of attitude is that?

You can't idolise a great communist like Che who belied in equality of people and felt strongly about the Mafia using Cuba as a playground, and then de-humanise someone just because they were addicted to drugs. :hammer: :cuba:

We must understand corruptwesterner90 reason for posting that Che was like Cobain. Cobain was much idolized for being a revolutionary like Che. Cobain changed the rock scene from big haired big mouthed singers to a much rootsier one. Che brought a revolution to politics. Both then are revolutionaries. But who will be remebered. El "Che" of course.

I did mean that but I also meant that you here his name so many times and so many people Idolise him he is like Che in that respect. What I mean is he is so famous does he not start to lose meaning...

Thats what I'm worried about. I think that so many people see his image every day that they don't even want to learn who he was. People just wear the T-Shirt because "it looks cool."
If you want to respect him properly, why not wear an alternative image, that other people haven't seen before? :che:

I remember the exact moment I first saw a che shirt I was sitting in a starbucks waiting for my friend and there was this guy reading at the table next to me(he had the shirt on). I asked my friend who was on the front of the shirt her answer was some cuban commie she thought his name was cheand that she heardabout him in history class. I then recently found this site and raise the fist i now know about che what he did and what he represents

I wouldn't say that taking drugs may be a particularly big problem. But it is certainly not the correct thing to do. Herman Goring lost his career because of his drug addiction.

Sherman is not Che's kid. Che had 5 kids. None of them have done anything extraordinary as far as I know.

Legitimate children most certainly. But illegitimate children is an other story altogether.

There are at least two definite children from Che; from his revolutionary campaign in Cuba. (1956-1959)

However there may be more within Cuba itself. I would properly bet that Che has children, and by now grandchildren throughout South America now…from his travels around the continent in he’s youth.

What can I say.

i think he is such a cult figure because he not only died for his cause but died young which alot of the youth admires. he was a man of action

39 is not that young really. If he was alive today he would be 75.1928-1967.37 years ago.

How gives a shit if Goering lost his career because of drugs?
His career was killing people!

Anyway I'm not saying that drugs aren't a problem, I'm saying that its the dealers, not the users that are the problem.

They are right Sherman is not Che's kid but for what he did, he is Che's "son" in a way. You are looking for Che's kid, I am his long lost daughter. :D

That's exactly why I don't label my political style. There is always somebody who wants to say how people of that persuasion should feel about some given thing.

I'm simply sick of seeing these unstable drug addicts like Cobain and Morrison glorified.

id say that more people who wear these T-Shirts understand what Kurt Cobain was about than what Che was about. I dont think that its right that it should be like that, but the chances are if you're wearing a Kurt Cobain T-Shirt, then you're a Nirvana fan. If you're wearing a Che T-Shirt there's every chance you've just been to Top Shop.

It sucks, but there it is.

Che shirts never really sat well with me. I'd love to wear one, but I would have to know the money I bought it with was going to a good cause or something. Otherwise, capitalist entrepreneurs are just profiting off his image.
