Guess what happened in the last few days?
The ignorant, illiterate indian electorate has elected a foreigner and an
Italian -Sonia Gandhi (Wife of Rajiv Gandhi)as the
Primeminister of the country
Already one man has commited suicide and many more are waiting
to do the same.
A nation of 1.1 bilion people cannot produce one person capable
of being the prime -minister. :(
I am ashamed of myself and my country men
Whats the use of driving out the british if we were going hand
over power to an Italian? :(
I have no problems with a foreigner taking power
If che were to come we would hand over power with closed eyes
but the
matter of fact is that she does not deserve to
She is so ignorent about indian history and culture
and least bothered about the country.
Even though she lived in india for 20 years she learnt the local language only in the last two years when she realized that she could
taste power with manipulation.
Also the leftists are supporting all this and is a key ally to the coalition.
The poor can know look forward to eating pizza's and spagettis I suppose
Tell me do you feel the indians are the most foolish people on
the planet or are are they magnanimous people with big hearts
to even give power to an Italian.
I believe an Indian from India who has worked and fought deserves to be prime-minister. No capitalist pigs should be allowed. I guess it is still a semblance of India's ties to the British. Back in the 19th century I eally wish the Indians would have had a succesful revolt and slaughtered the British. (No I am not "racist" against the British. I advocate that in the the past the Indians should have used any means necessary to get rid of their foreign enslavers.) India has much potential to become a Marxist state :/.

Which one is it?
If you want to criticize Sonia Gandhi for being a representative of India's capitalist class, or the Congress Party for its numerous misdeeds over decades in power, fine....as Arundhati Roy does in this essay, for example. (http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0514-08.htm)
But attacking her for being a foreigner...that's what the BJP did, as part of its right-wing Hindu nationalism. India's voters rejected the BJP and its semi-fascist allies...and they should be complimented for that, not insulted.

Fuck nationalism.
She is Indian. Does it really matter though? So long as she has been living there for 20 years? I bet you haven't lived there for 20 years, so shove it.
It's just disgusting how much tribalism and utter backwards stupidity we third-worlders get away with under the guise of "anti-Imperialism".
Don't fuckin' try to play the race card, or the "British Imperialism" card, she's not even fucking British! Her masters are your "patriotic Indian" bourgeoisie!
Thats why NAtionalism/Fascism and Patriotism or so alike and need to be crushed as soons as possible. Who pulled out the race card anyways?

"Who pulled out the race card anyways? "
The BJP did. Denouncing Sonia Gandhi as a "foreigner" was a major part of their campaign, and many analysts have suggested that this backfired on them, that this is likely one of the reasons Indian voters massively rejected them...
The Left Front, led by the Communist Party of India and similar groups, did better than ever in this election, and is likely to be part of the new Congress Party-led government. Basically these are social-democratic parties, and have carried out privatizations and IMF-style austerity policies - just not as ruthlessly as the BJP has. Still, the results of these elections reflect a working people's dissatisfaction with the effects of capitalism, and a leftward trend to their thinking.

Indeed, this election showed that poor people believe that the effects of privatisation and the economic growth in India, only improved the life standards of the rich and middle class, that is why the BJP lost.
Why did this man commit suicide ? Because she was Italian or because the BJP lost ? She has been an Indian for over 20 years now, she is not "less" of an Indian than you are, she is a citizen of India. So, she is Indian.
The poor can know look forward to eating pizza's and spagettis I suppose
Even if that is a rather silly statement. Surely that is better than no food at all.
Tell me do you feel the indians are the most foolish people on
the planet
No, my aunty and Cousins are part Indian :) But nah, I think it's absolutely fine to criticise Ghandi for her and he parties policies, as Severian pointed out, her nationality is the last thing you should be worried about. The BJP, even if they were full blooded Indians, weren't acting in most of India's interest were they ? If she has too form an alliance with some of the leftist parties, then hopefully at least some progressive policies can come about.

The BJP was defeated because of its non performence of its members.
This was the first time it had come to power and its MP's were really inefficient.
The congress has betrayed its voter's because at the time of the elections
it had announced that sonia gandhi is not the prime-ministerial candidate.
Thats why people voted for it
The previous election they had projected sonia gandhi as the prime-minister
thats why they lost as the people had voted for the BJP.
Now coming to the all important question of sonia gandhi
Does anybody know why Gandhi became the leader of the congress??
Its because of the weight the name Gandhi carries.
You are a nobody in the congress party if you are not a Gandhi.
The congress party is a family run affair where everbody is a servant of
the gandhi's.
The congress party has ruled india for the last 50 years and is the cause of
it's misery.
If the congress party had a vision for the country we would have been way ahead of china today because
In the 1950's when the congress came into power india and china's economy 's were equal but today is India is a balloon of hot air in front of china.

None of you have any idea what passes as socialism, communism in India.
India has always been a socialist state
Here are some examples:-
1.Role of public sector industries in India
A public sector unit in Bihar which makes tractors reports a loss for the 10th
year in a row.
In its book of accounts it mentions that 20 lakh rupees worth of tyres were eaten by rats when kept in storage.
They could'nt have possibaly come up with an even more absurd explanation
The money has obviously gone into the pockets of beaurocrats and politicians
Most of the public sectors are in a similiar state of mis managment.
politicians consider public sector units as private property and abuse it as they will
It makes no difference whether the politicians belong to communist party or fundamentalist party. Its all the same
2.Role of subsidies in India
Subsidies like free power, fertilizers are given to farmers then
the government buys from the farmers their produce at a rate which they are not worth.
They are then stored in grain silo's while people are dying of hunger in some parts of the country.
After a few years the grains will be spoilt by rats(again),and due to improper storage.
Thats when the government decides to export it as cattle feed .
Last year almost 10,000 tons of foodgrains were destroyed due improper storage and an equal amount has been exported as cattle feed.
Also last year there were hundrends of deaths and a third of the population still
lives on a one meal a day.
Now do you know why there are so many rats in this country because nobody kills rats
because the rat is supposed to be the vehicle of a god called Ganesh

All I can do is laugh at my country men and myself
All this is the making of the congress .
The congress party of india has taken corruption and inefficiency to a new level.
The BJP had privatized many such inefficient PSU"s and reduced subsidies.
But looks like we are back to square one
Whether india is ruled by communist or capitalists its all the same
The MNC"s will fuck india ,the communists will fuck india,
The poor will continue to die from hunger and diseases no matter who comes
The bottomline is
India and Indians will always get fucked hard.No matter who comes to power
That's the absolute truth

BTW the man who commited suicide did it because he thought it's
better to die a free Indian than under Italian occupation.(sonia gandhi will be sworn in on wednesday)

Wow, apologia for the Hindutva-fascists. And praise for their privatizations. I see why you're caged in OI now.
In fact, the Congress stated that Sonia Gandhi might or might not become PM, so they can't be blamed for breaking a promise...on that point.
Now, when they get into power and continue to practice IMF-style economic policies, along with covert Hindu communalism, then they can be attacked for breaking their promises. But I'm guessing you'll be pleased by that.

I saw a news broadcast where this woman was addressing what looked like the India parliament. She was speaking in English. Is English the language used in the India parliament?
revolutionindia

Well india uses both english and hindi
English because of the colonial legacy and also
because the southern states are not comfortable with
hindi and prefer english as the medium of communication between
the governments.
In the parliment you can speak in any language but the proceedings are usually carried out in english or hindi.

Sonia Gandhi reluctant to be Prime Minister
GANDHI BACKS SINGH AS PM
The leader of India's biggest political party has backed someone else to become Prime Minister.
Sonia Gandhi, 57, had been widely expected to take up the post after her Congress Party romped to victory in national elections.
But Mrs Gandhi has now said that Manmohan Singh should take the post.
Mr Singh is an official of the Congress Party and is the architect of the country's economic reforms.
The news follows reports that Mrs Gandhi was reluctant to become Prime Minister.
Senior party leader Salman Khurshid said she had "decided" not to become Prime Minister, adding it would be "very difficult" to change her mind.
The new government will face a major challenge from its first day - that of restoring confidence in the business community.
India's stock markets suffered the biggest one day loss in history on Monday amid fears Mrs Gandhi would team up with the Communist Party in the coalition government.
The markets feared the alliance would jeopardise the economic reforms introduced by the previous Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Regulators were forced to suspend trading for an hour as panicking investors forced the markets down 10% within 20 minutes of the trade floor opening.
