Mahatma gandhi was a hardcore fanatic when it came to abstinence.

Initially he was married and was all into sex etcetc

Later on due to some circumstnces he changed and took a vow not to do it again.

he reached such a level that he even performed various
bizarre experiments like sleeping naked with his naked teenage
niece to test himself.

he passed with flying colours .
He induced a state of impotency in himself

When the indian public came to know this there was a big hue and cry.
But it died down because he was after all gandhi.

I believe he derived a lot of mental strength by not thinking and indulging in the
act.

That could ahve been one of the reasons for his sucess
with satyagraha

I have tried it also and believe me at my age its very difficult and I have not

I find the american obsession with sex bizarre
I believe americans have their first sexual encounter when they are
as young as 15 /16 years.

Coitus urges start during the first signs of puberty. It is biologically necessary for humans to engage in sex and to transmit our genetic material so the species can survive. Sex etc, is also a good way to "fight" the growing trends of obesity; especially in America. If America did not have that than more people would die from heart attacks. Although one might not be mentally prepared one must learn eventually. And what about arranged marriages in India where pre-teens engage in sex? We are genetically programmed to hunger for this.

Also, a logical person knows how to control their urges; like hunger, rage, violence and even hate. The problem is people are so varied with drugs/emotions/ailments that it creates a negative flux in world societies. And yes, a fifteen year-old can experience love; there are some very smart teenagers; and dumb ones as well. That is why it is better to not make assumptions.

Arranged marriage means that both the bride and bridegroom do not know each other and their marriage is arranged by the parents.

You have no idea what clarity of mind you will be able to achieve if

Sexual satisfaction does not just give 10 seconds of pleasure... Being sexually active also stimulates mental growth and hormones in your body which can alleviate stress, raise testosterone/estrogen levels and it connects you with others emotionally/humanly. While pretty much anything overdone is wrong/waste. Money? Power? Food? Sex is also a playful activity and helps link the sexes together.
