OI used to be where most of the action was - the busiest section of the forums. But now I'm seeing like only a handful of new replies not including my ones. So, whats up? Surely you wouldn't be avoiding ZOMG.. OTHER perspectives.

The CIA has blocked traffic to this site

That could be the only reason :)

Just by the way. Your signature seems odd to me, I am referring to the pro-gay and pro-abortion. Thatcher believed in strong social control to maintain social stability, which would be critical to allow the free market to work.

I would have to assume you are some anarcho-capitalist type who likes Thatcher only on the basis of what she did for the free market and disregard the fact that she was a Conservative.

Yeah, I disagree with her neoconservative stance. She based her social policy on functionalist theory supported by the likes of Parsons, who saw traditional social values as key to maintaining stability.
But he did little on the economic side of things. Really keeping traditional social values only restricts the freedom of the consumer, and clogs up the labour market. Which undermines the free market principle I feel.

I agree with her free market economic policy. But in terms of social policy, I agree more with postmodernist theory, so liberalism.

Yes, I understand. I thought you might have a problem with me saying you might be an anarcho-capitalist though.

Oh. I dont really care about the term used, I guess 'anarcho' is a bit inaccurate because I support there still being some sort of government, to ensure the free market continues to exist and isnt abused. But I can see how it can be seen as anarcho-capitalism sure.

Oh, hi there, old friend. Streetsweeper here is the person who thinks that by asking Islamic leaders to condemn the beheading, so that there is less backlash against the religion and people, I am a moron. Good Job.

Your ideas would be pure Smithian. Would you say that is right? A government to provide only 4 things, defence, law etc.
