A big explosion ripped apart a factory in Glasgow yesterday, although they are still searching for survivors a few workers have so far been confirmed as dead, more will definatley follow.

The blast was caused when an old oven on the ground floor of the factory exploded, the factory produced plastics and the building was a very old victorian one.

I read today that a formed worker quit because he felt the many old ovens packed in on the ground floor was unsafe, this was no fewer than 6 years ago but the management turned a blind eye, yet again the result is more dead workers...

They are still hunting around for survivors underneath the rubble

I believe the search stops Thursday 13th noon.
Just as with the victims of any other, my thoughts are with those left behind.

I live nearby. Its a five minutes walk from my flat. It has been very upsetting.
I will go up with some flowers, in the next days. I am not even sure if anybody I know has been hurt. News of people not being there has been of some relief.
I reckon it is like disasters everywhere. It just feels a lot more scary, unsettling,
and sadder when its in you own backyard so to speak.
The local MP was on the TV saying there will be an investigation. It is difficult to speculate on specifics but health and safety issues are not in general a strong point within the capitalist system. Some reports have pointed to neglect.
In the long term I hope that is all sorted out somehow and I am sure it will be given the utmost attention by most Glaswegians. In the short term, my thoughts go
with those who have suffered loss and out beyond towards those parts of the world deeply troubled.
