the whole nature of war is barbaric and inhumane. US soldiers basically did the same thing in Vietnam. If I remember right, they would lasso heads to their belts as trophys. Both sides are guilty of really deplorable and heinous inexcusable acts. Whipping out a butcher knife and beheading, or actually, sawing someones head off, with probably a dull knife, when their back is turned is pretty low. so is attacking someone with vicious police dogs and hanging them to electric cables and all the other atrocities the US soldiers are doing to torture and humiliate the Iraqi prisoners. There's nothing at all noble in this war. The US is in way over their head. ALL troops need to get out now. Though it is really too late to every think a truce might be called. I think they thought it would be much easier and much shorter than this, Like the three-day "war" of his father's.
The person beheaded was an civilian contractor though, not a US soldier. He was putting in communiction antennas. Bad idea on his part.
They are supposedly going to turn Saddam over to Iraq to face trial in Mid-June. I am wondering if the al-Qaeda will try to mount a rescue mission.
I think things are going to get a lot worse, if that's possible.

Those contractors are in no way civilians. They're killing innocent Iraqis just like the marines. They're given guns and even helicopter gun ships and are even exempt from ANY law! They are mercanaries not civilians.
He wasn't a U.S. soldier. Apparently he worked in communications.
I saw the video, I thought it was sick.
I just wonder why he was wearing an orange jumpsuit.
Also, his father has blamed the U.S. military. Apparently they detained him. He was supposed to have returned from Iraq earlier.

i haven't seen the video, and don't want to. this kind of act is unjustified and simply disgusting. however bu$h and bLIar are to blame. this war has given terrorist groups a reason to strike back, and when they strike back it is innocents who pay the price.

This guy actually was a civilian. It's was done by Zarqawi's group apparently - a pretty rotten bunch, probably also responsible for car-bombings that have indiscriminately killed Iraqis, sometimes on purpose. Ideas similar to al-Qaeda's.
And yeah, his family's criticizing the U.S. government for detaining him for 13 days for no reason - otherwise he woulda left the country before things got so dangerous.

People killing each other was bad enough. :(
Now , we have americans and iraqi's
trying to outdo each prove that they are more
barbaric from the others
This remind 's of a quote

When i had last replied I had not yet seen the video
Now that I have seen the video I find it distressing :(
Really distressing,depressing :( :( :(
To add to it after the beheading video they
showed video of the jewish body parts blown away
Does any body have any idea what effect these images
can have on this world??
Firstly such videos should not be shown on t.v
Whatever happened to geneva conventions??
Why is ther no american hue and cry??
We are all responsible in some direct or indirect way to
what is happening in the world.
I think I will end up as a Misanthrope :(
However cliched this might sound all I can say is
God save the world!!

yea, you're right. the assholes did lasso heads and display them on their belts.
The video was sick, and the fact that the guy wasn't apart of the fighting made it all the worse. But to talk about Abu-Gharib, it is not surprising about the american tormentors of Iraqi prisoners. In every single American war, there's always been a problem (sometimes major, sometimes minor, but still there) with soldiers treating the "enemy" inhumanely. Take the Indian wars of the 1800's for example. Custer and Miles saw their men carving up the corpses of Sioux, cheyenne, apache, etc. and what happened? They joined with them. Custer actually starting a game of soccer with the head of Blackfoot sioux boy. The soldiers back then would go as far as cutting out the genitals of dead and even wounded indians and taunt them with their own body parts. Soldiers put female genitalia on their saddles and rode around. This whole demented sadistic practice can still be seen as an american soldier holds the leash of a naked man laying on the floor.

I condemn it but think its very natural response of what americans have done there.Be realist, what would you do if you where in their shoes seeing those crimes to your brothers?

Nothing makes such an action acceptable, but the US must admit to bringing this down on themselves and on the civilian americans in Iraq.

I know that may seem trivial but that is a good question. (I'm not being sarcastic). I have seen other footage of prisoners in Iraq and no one has been wearing an orange jumpsuit.

To answer your question the terrorists dressed him up in a jump suit so he could be like the al qaeda detainees in Guantanimo Bay Cuba.

oh my goddess..
I suppose that's the kind of mentality that is created when people become victims of imperialism. Sending a message becomes more important than what it takes to do it. In other words, the end starts to justify the means.

Then theres the orange suit that the person was wearing, much like somebody would wear in an American prison.

I’m tempted to watch it out of curiosity. But I won’t. Here’s why:
I once had a friend that was really into violence. He watched all kinds of videos of real people getting killed. I mean, really graphic stuff like people getting chopped in half in elevator shafts and that kind of thing. Then he started having a perverse desire to kill things. He started with insects. I was bored so I killed insects with him. But when he did it, he did it with a bright grin and he would let out a maniacal laugh. But soon, that wasn’t satisfying enough. So he started killing birds. He would ask me to kill birds with him, but I never did. He called be a pussy and a dooshbag and bunch of other shit, but I really didn’t care. His bird killing lasted a while, but it still wasn’t enough for him. So he resorted to killing possums, raccoons, cats, and any animal he could find. I moved to another city and did not see him for a few years. When I met him again, he started talking about Bill O’Reilly and The No Spin Zone and all this rightwing shit. He said that he was tired of “paying for blacks to sit on their ass”, and that “immigrants are destroying our great civilization”, and all this other bullshit. He said that we should kill them. And this was not a joke, he was fuckin serious. Killing animals was not enough, so he moved up to people. Since he didn’t have a good reason to kill people, he made one up. Or the rightists made it up and he made himself believed it, so he would have a reason for his insanity. I haven’t seen him since. I don’t know if he has actually killed any blacks, Hispanics, or any other people yet, but I know he intends to.
I don’t want to end up like him. When I feel that desire for violence rising up in me, I resist it. I know what it can do to people. So I will never watch that video.

Thank you for the awful description of the atrocities done to Native Americans by Custer and company, Sitting Bull. I copied it for future reference. --Skeptic
