Many UK companies are relocating to countries such as China and India, as this apprently makes "economic sense", ie they dont have to pay the workers as much.

How can we prevent companies from relocating overseas, apart from boycotting? They will move over there, and exploit the workers, who will be paid much less than a UK or other Western employee would for the same job! We must try to stop this practise.

What you must remember is that although call centre jobs in India and China pay poorly by western standards, they usually offer excellent rates of pay compared to other jobs in the same country.

Is it good that these jobs get relocated? no of course it isn't. But by boycotting companies and forcing them to relocate back to the UK, we are taking those jobs away from those who need it the most.

Although benefits are increasingly hard to get in the UK, it is still quite hard to starve in this country, even if you don't resort to petty theft.

I guess it depends where your priorities lie; with the worker in the Uk or the worker in India. But remember the Indian is more likely to starve than you are.

I didint know that they were some of the best-apid in that country.

I dont mind them taking jobs off British people, just that they should pay the Indian, Chinese etc workers the same as the British ones.

They should pay the same, but they don't and they won't.
Ask any capitalist why this is so and they'll rattle off a load of balls about 'economies of scale' or some other obscure rubbish. The truth of the matter is that is these companies paid as much to the Indian workers then there'd be no point in moving.

However they do give a generous wage by Indian standards and still pay less. That's how capitalism works. It's unfair but we wouldn't be here unless we wanted to do something about it, and truth be told I can't think of a way that doesn't involve laying off some poor soul in India who's just got a very nice-paying job that's been snatched from under his feet by some 'socialist' thousands of miles away.

shame was effective - but now they like the argument that they only "contract" the work out to "contractors", who have their own labour force. To add further salt to the wounds, companies such as nike point to their list of good employment practises and state that they try to persuade their contractors to follow the same guidelines...

Also, they like to point out that the jobs that they creat are far better paid than the native local jobs.
