There are many reasons why a leftist would look to Che as a symbol or even as a martyr. You should be able to find some helpful resources through this website...or through various books. Try reading ones written by him rather than about him. From a personal perspective, I see him as a symbol for resistance. Especially from U$ domination. He was a man who gave everything he had, family, possessions, citizenship and lastly his life, for the oppressed of the world. He set an example. I respect the fact that he was willing to leave Cuba to go into the Congo and to Bolivia to fight. He wasn't satisfied with being a "suit" in the ministry, he felt he could do more service to the revolution by spreading it's message. As I said, it's best to read what he wrote about himself and what he believed in. If you're pressed for time and you basically just need a bio, "The Che Handbook" is pretty concise for beginners.

first you should reserch communism and why it is worth fighting for, then you will understand how great Che is.

I know this is your first post in the future it would be really helpful if you would specify what kinds of opinions you were seeking in the title of your thread.

He was an inspirational guerilla fighter, before he was ever a communist. You don't have to be a communist to like Che Guevara. You do, however, need to be able to understand that there are situations where an aggressive solution is neccessary.
He took the time to read.
He did voluntary labour, I always think of him when i do volunteer work.
He was an economist communist, read to understand what I mean by that. (Please, nobody tell her!)

The question in hand can not be answered simply. Che for me is important in my life because he is a symbol of courage and optimism. Like a MLK he fought for what he believed in. To fight for what you believe in is an important lesson and not only Che has taught this, but many other great leaders. Revolution is neccessary to change history, and Che was maybe the greatest revolutionary.
