I am new here so I just wanted to say hello and ask for your opinions. I must confess I for most of my life have been a right winger but the past few years and my adolesence have change my political views to the left. I would like to know why you think you USA still insists on a Castro free Cuba and continue to enflict hardships upon the Cuban people by not allowing the American Dollar to flow freely through Cuba. Our country tades Billions of Dollars a year with China whom we have been very close to going to war with and who helped arm and fund the North Koreans during the Korean War. I would also like to point out that our government has spent millions if not billions of dollars in aid to the North Korean regime.I am so sick of seeing Americans wearing these damn American Flag shirts that they proudly wear and purchased at Walmart(The Most Unamerican Company ) which many were made in of all places CHINA!
Second: : I would like to know your oion on the COLOMBIAN struggle. For over forty years the people of Colombia have suffered great losses. I am a stout Left Winger and believe in Socialism but I am struggling with the fact that the FARC and ELNas well as right wing para militias use Narco Money to fund their cause. I know the problem is here in The USA with consumption. However I am very torn on this issue and want other opinions. I am not Colombian however my wife is and to hear her talk about her country is heartbreaking. The just want peace.
Third :I hope that you are all aware of the "ECEHLON" program which is a an effort by the USA and allies around the globe that violate everyones cival rights . It is a worldwide effort of monitoring all means of communications from you home telephone calls , cell calls and even the web pages you visit and also monitoring and reading your emails. If you are unaware of this google it and type in ECEHLON. It is pretty scary stuff.
Until later Comrades!

Hello, and welcome to the board companero

Your observations are typical of the 2 faced nature of the capitalist system in that they say one thing to the people, and then do the opposite.

On the question of columbia, it is certainly an interesting question to debate where the FARC are getting funding from. I think it is incorrect for them to pursue such financial avenues, however, this is onyl due to them being forced to work as a terrorist group, and not working with the masses. If they had the masses on their sided, the masses could fund them with monthly payments, and they wouldnt have to use narcotics money

I am afraid comrade that I do not follow the events in Columbia enough to comment on the current situation, it always saddens me though to hear stories torn by poverty, strife and unrest.

I would like to know why you think you USA still insists on a Castro free Cuba

The answer to this very simple. The United States has for decades had an obsession with Cuba, and the destruction of the Castro regime for the following reasons:

1) The Castro government does not serve US economic interests (unlike Batista).
2) Anti-Castro Cuban exiles are importaint to the Florida vote.
3) The US cannot stand the fact that there is a communist island off their shore.
4) Castro has considerable influence in Latin America.

If the current Bush administration were to ease off it's foamed-mouth obsession with destroying Socialist Cuba it would lose the confidence of the exiles, be seen as weak by other citizens, lose the oppertunity to gain economic and political access to Cuba, and also possibly some authority in Latin America.
