The trickle down theory of market economics is a good one. I read a good analysis of that in The Zapitista's Reader.

But what immediately came to mind when I read the title of this thread was religion.
The myth being that there is a god.

True Communism has never existed. The leaders never live like their citizens - this is exemplified in Cuba. Castro lives way better than alotta ppl in Cuba, you dont have to agree, but you should accept that fact.

So, if the leader doesnt live like their citizens, then communism will never work. It'll only be a dictatorship, and nothing more.

No country is currently going after Communism. Communism is the lack of any state. Thus, a Communist State is impossible since under Communism there would be no state. I think it is pretty obvious that Stalinism is a failure. The idea of Socialism is not to make everyone equal, thus why Castro lives higher than most. In actual fact, today they would be classed as terrorists. Mail bombs and public violence were common from Suffragettes. The WSPU was actually set up, due to the ostensible ineffectivity of NUWSS (the suffragists).

-Hitler was a hard working, intelligent man

In fact he left school with no qualifications, and was a poor student. He even wiped his arse with one of his school reports (apparently). Moreover, Hitler tended to only work a couple of hours a day when his party was in power, he was actually quite lazy. Much of his success can be attributed to skilled people around him (such as Goebbels).


-The world was close to nuclear destruction throughout the Cold War

With the exception of a few occasions (i.e. the Cuban missile crisis) The likelihood of nuclear attack was low.

The existance of the tooth fairy cant be disproven either. But I doubt any sane person believes in the tooth fairy. In situations like this it is necessary for existance to be proven, not the other way round, because you cant disprove something which does not exist.

I hate to tell you this Nicholas C, but there is no veracity whatsoever to the myth of the historical Jesus. Not only is there no physical evidence of his existance, but the only historians who do mention him wrote years (if not decades) after his storied demise. This is to say nothing of the fact that there is no record or remains of either Mary or Joseph, so by logical extension it can be assumed that Jesus never existed either.

If you accept for the sake of argument the explanation of why the couple was on the road in the first place, that is to say they were responding to the annual census call of the Roman Empire to the nearest provincial capitol, they either never made it or never were there.

So I guess when you think about it, there&#39;s no real reason to believe that the idea of a Christian god ever held any water.

I&#39;m not the person that said that, and people have different opinions from Cuba.
I have friends from Cuba who stayed till just recently and go back every chance they get and really respect a lot of things about the government but note the poverty due to the embargo as the reason for leaving

Then there are some musician night club expatriates that are divided, some love Che but others dislike the government for shutting down the clubs.
