I see them every day. In 2004, I've seen 20-30 Americans, which is a pretty big number. Under Clinton, there were hardly any, but now, more and more are fleeing to Norway. I like Americans, I hope it stays this way. :D

Yes but can we stay, as US citizens to my knowledge no other country will allow us to work and live in it's borders except Guam, the Philipines, and Puerto Rico where the standard of living is bad.

I've always had the desire to live in Europe and work in a small shop, owned independently. How's the standard of living in Amsterdam? :)

Well other than the fact they are trying to stop 'foreign devils' coming in and smoking their pot, it seems pretty decent :D

Denmark is against refugees (due to right wing parties in power), but there are many political parties. Denmark also has the best standard of living in all of europe. (this is proved)

And although they dislike refugees, my family has been able to live here no problem. Pubs and other entertainment facilities would be very welcome. This is because Denmark is often boring as hell. Bingedrinking is a favorite pass-time for the danes.

Nah, the danes won't complain on your etnicity unless you look "foreign" (read: nigga).

In that case I'd recommend any american lad to settle down in some south swedish city near the danish border (For the cheap beer). Like Lund. Just avoid Malmo, I think the crime rate is pretty fucked up there as a consequense of bad integrative system.

That's not true. And possibly the most idiotic people, too. Most of the Danes support the war in Iraq.

According to UN,

It's

1. Norway
2. Iceland (I believe)

And Denmark like top 5, somewhere.

Americans fleeing to Norway- They did that during the Vietnam War to avoid being forced to fight in a war they saw through aswell.

Has anyone read the book 'The Birth of the Peoples Republic of Antartica'? Maddest book in the world but it starts off fairly sane with a group of Americans fleeing to Norway.

Not all Danes are racist, this is probably one of the most stupid things to say.
But yes there has been some hostility towards first of all fundamentalist muslims. This has been sparked up and used by especially the populist Danish People's Party for attacking muslims in particular. Of course people are against fundamentalism and socialists shouldn't keep from fighting it. Just remember what happened in Iran in 1979 or how they shoot socialists in for example Pakistan. But it should of course never be used against "muslims" in particular since they like all other groups are diverse.

Actually it's maam, and good luck working, unfortunately I'm not independently wealthy, from what I've heard most of Western Europe has agencies that look for people working illegally even as a fry cook;

Trust me would have loved to have worked in England where people make 3x the amount I did for the same work in social services and they couldn't find qualified people, but they wouldn't hire an American.

I have a personal experince with immigiration to Danmark, I'm currently in the process of trying too find a way too move there, as I have been with my Danish girlfriend for 2 years, with us visiting each other as much as we can. However, Danish immigration laws are so tough, that as it stands it prevents us from living there together, till we are both 24. I'm trying too find a way around that though, since I am outside the EU (Australia), while if you are too marry a member of the royal family, you are exempt from the laws. It's utterly frustrating, it judges everyone as guilty before their case can be heard. We may have too look at another European nation then, would anyone know which nation would be the "easiest" for someone like me, too get into ?

I've been to Danmark and love the country and the culture, it' just a big stain on Danmark in genrael too have this policy. Every case should be judged on it's merits, surely.

Most Danes were against the Iraq war though and a lot aren't racist, there is elements of racism but that is true of just about every country. Hopefully, Fogh Rasmussen or Ratface, as my girlfriend knows him is thrown out of office at the next election.

As an australian your best bet would probably be the UK - though even that would be no cup of tea.

Set your goals high: go for sweden :D

Yeah, I'm currently investigating whether I can get a English Passport, since my Grandfather is an English/Australian, that would make it possible for me too get into England. I'm not sure how that would effect my entry into other European countries though. I was thinking Sweden or Norway, Norway aren't part of the EU, so I'm not sure what there actual stance is for immigrants. Thanks for the advice though, I really want to live in Europe as well, so I'm thinking perhaps my university degree could also help with that.

I could get a working visa though, in Danmark but that only lasts for 12 months. As Asian Dub Foundation says "Tear down the walls of fortress Europe" :)

Well we're all supposed to be one big happy family now, so it shouldn't infringe on this any - other than the UK's dogged pro-war stance and resistance you may receive from more liberal european beurocrats.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm planning on moving at the end of the year but as far as I know, you have too live within Danmark for 7 years, before you can become a citizen, which I don't mind too much. There is meant to be a bit of an Anti European feeling in the UK though, isn't there ?

Certainly is <_<

There's a sizeable minority would rather see us as an independant entity, and many who would basically like to see us as Airstrip One.

If i remember correctly, the government in the UK has agreed to put the decision on whether to join the EU constitution or not to referendum - so it's a case of waiting
