This thread is devoted to Fidel’s speeches. It’s been getting harder to find them on the Internet. There was once a Fidel Castro speech database that had hundreds of transcripts of his speeches translated into English, but I think it got shut down. The only places I know of that have any now are:

http://www.seeingred.com/Copy/fidel/
http://www.cuba.cu/gobierno/discursos/index.html
http://www.granma.cu/

If any of you know of any others please add them to this thread.

Also, is there any place on the Internet with video of Fidel giving speeches?

Fidel’s speeches are some of the greatest speeches ever made. By reading his speeches I can improve my own speech skills as well as learn about history, Cuba, socialism, and the fascist policies of the United States. I would really like to see some video of him charismatically gesturing. I suck gesturing, and would like to learn to get better at it by watching Fidel.

toastedmonkey, thanks for that address. The site was down for a while and I forget where it was.

I just bought this book "Fidel Castro on Imperialist Globalization...two speeches". IT IS AMAZING! He hits every nail on the head, these are 2 hour speeches, withonly notes, the first delivered at University of Venezuela in Feb. 1999, where he spoke exactly 40 years before after the successful Cuban Revolution, the second was delivered at the International Congress on Culture and Development in Havana June 1999.

These are considered to be his most memorable speeches. He talks about the U$ Federal Reserve, exploitation, Bretton Woods institutions, and goes on to point out the system which leaves an extremely high infant mortality rate in the Bronx, New York and thrives on the sweat labour of women and children in South America.

Points out the Imperialist rewriting of history in places like Yugoslavia

A MUST READ!

Fidel's May Day 2004 speech. I posted this in the other thread, but seeing as how you're looking for any of Fidel's speeches, it seems appropriate to post this here. Especially since it is his most recent speech.
