Okay. this is pretty trivial, but, who owns the rights and gets royalties for Hitler's books? I don't think he's got any surviving relatives and would doubt it's going to some kind of 'Hitler memorial fund.' The question came up in a History lesson the other day and stumped everyone, so I thought one of you enlightened individuals might know...

My guess is that there are no longer any copyrights on his works, so companies can publish them as they please.
The copyright for Mein Kampf actually is owned by the German state of Bavaria. I'd never actually thought about it before.

As for Hitler's family, I once read that the last known close relatives (within 4-5 degrees) actually made a pact that they would not continue the bloodline and all died childless. Apparently, some of their bodies are buried in America somewhere. How true this is, I don't know.
For anyone who cares, here's a link to what happened to the Hitler family.

I thought Hitler's actual name was Gublemensch or something like that... Hitler was just a name he took, like a pen name.

Thanks for the quick responce, I knew someone would know...I can sleep easy now that that one is cleared up. :D
MM,
I've been reading up on his name and there's a thousand and one different stories. As far as I can work out and this is very vague, the original family name was Schicklgruber, which through marriage or name change became Heidler, which was somehow mispelled Hitler.

Actually the origin of the name was that Hitler's grandfather's surname was spelt wrongly on his adoption cirtificate...it should have been 'Heidler' but someone made a mistake and it stuck...Hitler's mother and father were also niece and uncle and there's evidence to suggest his great-grandfather was Jewish...
His family tree certainly goes along way to explaining why he was messed up...

where do you people find this stuff?
Actually the Jewish argument has been refuted. Many people tried to claim this because Hitler always attempted to keep his background secret. Apparently there was a genetic disorder on one side of his family which has been linked to retardation and mental disorders. It's more likely that Hitler wanted to keep his family history a secret, in order to hide this and stop any attempts to reject him as an ubermensch.

I believe the Heinz Corporation owns the royalties for Mein Kampf and the the rest of Hitler's literature. This means that America's richest Senator Hanoi John Kerry is the benefactor.

I already posted this in Chit Chat but.......
To clarify the points on Hitler:
Hitler's grandmother was called Anna Schicklgruber.
Her son, Alois, had an adopted father, Georg Heidler, though Alois kept the name Schicklgruber.
Later, Alois changed his surname to Hitler, though this wasn't really related to his stepfather's name (Heidler).
Hence, Adolf, the son of Alois, came to be Adolf Hitler.
I think this is important, what would the world be like if Adolf Schicklgruber was the great evil of history?
On a side note:
It's suspected that Hitler's birth grandfather was a man named Frankenberger. This man was actually, a jew.
The irony of Hitler being part Jewish is too much for me to bear.

Just goes to highlight the fact that self-hating Jews are the worst Nazis of all.

The whole concept of 'self-hating Jew' was fabricated by the ADL so that even Jews couldn't criticize Israel. How come you've never heard of a self-hating Irishman or a black white supremist? Because they don't exist. People as a general rule of thumb don't want to exterminate themselves.

well Hitlers ideal German was the opposite of him - tall blonde blue eyes
Osman,
I remember actually seeing a chat show (stay quiet) about racists a year or so ago and on the show they actually had self-hating racists. White and black people who hated their own races, quite amusing.

Ya, I remember hearing about a black white supremist on Jerry Springer, but the fact that it was on Springer pretty much proves the ludicrosity (is that a word?) of the concept. I wonder how you could actually desire the destruction of your race but still be alive. I mean, what's stopping you?
What about the self-hating Asians and self-hating Whites that support racist affirmative action descrimination on the sole basis of skin color?

Hmm... I support affirmative action and I'm not a 'self-hating white'. Is it discrimination? Sure, a little. But is it necessary to restore an ethnic balance? Yes. It is funny how you are a 'self-hating white' (I don't hate myself) if you support affirmitive action yet only racists (like DSCH) oppose it. And don't try and tell me that you aren't a racist or I'll have to pull out the 'Sand Nazi' archives. Bottom line though, everything isn't about what race you are.
