A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having
fought in vietnam. He called his parents from San francisco.

"Mom and Dad ,I am coming home but I've a favour to ask .
I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me"

"Sure" they replied"We'd love to meet him."

"There's something you should know" the son continued
"He was hurt pretty badly in the fighting .He stepped on a land mine
and lost a hand and leg .He has nowhere to go and I want him to
come and live with me

"I m sorry to hear that my son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere
to live"

"No mom and Dad I want him to live with us"

"Son " said the father "you don't know what you're asking
Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden
on us.We have our own lives to live ,
and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives.
I think you should forget anout his guy .
He'll find a way to live on his own

The son hung up and the parents heard nothing more from him
.A few days later ,however they recieved a call saying their son
had commited suicide.

The grief stricken parents were taken to the city morgue to
identify the body of their son .They recognised the body of their son
but to thier Horror they also discovered something they did'nt know
,their son had only one arm and one leg

Tonight before you tuck yourself in ,say a little prayer
that God will give you the strenght you need to accept people
as they are ,and to be more understanding of those who are
different from you.

Communists ,capitalists ,rightwingers remember a better world
is possible.
We all need each other. We all have a lot to learn from each other

We all are humans first and then christians, muslims, commie's , cappie's,homosexuals, homophoebe's,atheists etcetcetc

We have to face the fact that either all of us are going to die together or we are going to learn to live together.

All problems of this world are problems of harmony.
With compromise and understanding we can resolve all
our problems.

Lets not forget

What brought us all together was Che'

and

Great men like Che never die they forever live on and inspire us
Che Guerva lives not on this website or on T-shirts

He lives in our hearts and as long as our hearts continue to beat
The man and his ideals will never be lost or forgotten.

The next revolution will be revolution of the minds .
no weapons , no blood

Together we will drench this world with knowledge and ideas
and remove ignorance and bring everlasting peace and prosperity
and take Humanity to its next step in evolution.

Note:The story is an adaption of an article I came across .I think it is true one

Uggh...

Almost vomited.

I'm sorry man, I went through that immature period too, this is a little too sugary for me.

Do yourself a favour and take the cotton candy down a notch, you'll get jaded very quickly with an attitude like that.

yea no offense. I say we would do better without the right wing totally. We don't need eachother that much, just as long as people of a common thought unite, then there is peace in that.

I dont think there could be much unity between capitalists and communists, homosexuals and homophobes...

Cynicism is obviously not a large part of revolutionindia's life. ;)

Hopefully when he sees how downright nasty people can be he won't let it get him down.

Sharp learning curve ahead...

But we must not allow cynicism to consume us - There is plenty to learn yet - it disturbs me how often people simply flame others on this board who disagree with them - no matter how vehemontly. After all, that is the root of our problem. Everything else can be resolved if we stop ripping the shit out of each other and learn some kind of tolerance

I know this is far from a popular front, but i've been through that 'immature' cynical stage, and it gets you nowhere but a lonely, unhappy life, where you persistently feel victimised regardless of the circumstance. Cheer up ;) :D

It seems to me that that this dude killed himself for a pretty stupid reason. His parents were not rejecting his "friend" (obviously himself) because he was missing apendages.

His parents probably just didn't want a stranger and another mouth to feed simply moving into their house (especially one with limited career opprtunites and special needs). I don't blame them.

Stupid, selfish, fascist bastard. The story had a point and that wasn't it. Don't be ignorant, and most of all, pay attention to the context of the story. Ahh......I remeber that time when I was young and wanted to save the world. Oh, wait, I still do.

CI is right to a certain degree, that kid was an idiot. His parents said they didn't want a disabled kid they didn't even know moving in with them. While this is still cruel, it's a far cry from not wanting their disabled son to move in with them.

You've both missed the point (that I got from the story).

I understand how you concluded this, but it's hypocracy unfortunately... *EDIT* the story that is

"Son " said the father "you don't know what you're asking
Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden
on us.We have our own lives to live ,
and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives.

The son couldn't have taken that message more clearly. He now knows exactly what kind of people his parents are, and the lengths they can(not) go to for a fellow being. It's the attitude of 'looking after your own' - something the son in the story never even mentioned. Something that (and maybe I'm alone here) makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach.

Yes, but unfortunately, revolutionindia took the story and corrupted it to be something about being nice to former dictators and wage-slave owners.

To what degree is CI right? the 0th degree? It was the point of the story, not the nitty-gritty details. Yes it makes me sick. But it represents my town pretty accurately.

And I need no strength from god; I will not ask a non-existant omnipotent diety to give me a human quality. No one is there.
