View Full Version : Missionaries
If missionaries really care about peoples soul why put them in that position to "choose eternal life" or "sin".....when they could have been innocent forever. There is no "hell" for those people, untill you came along and gave them the choice to abandon every thing they believe is right and go to this heaven, or continue to believe in the thing they believe in as much as you have your idea and ascend into hell to pay for "what they have done"
Just a thought.

Hell exists whether infidels and heretics believe it or not.

it is a complex thing... you can argue that really how is it that we are put here to do what we please yet there are all these bounderies...
or that we need boundaries or there would be chaos...
but the truth is that is a complex subject religion and propaganda and media and all that shit is complex and can easily be broken down it's weird it's like a burn but there's a come back to it

If you are talking about christian missionaries ,I am not much
aware about what they do.
In my country they pay money to poor hindu's to convert to christianity
Islam converts by the sword
Christianity converts by money
Hell and heaven are mere representations of life on earth.
When you do good deeds in this life you are reborn in a better life(heaven)
When you do bad deeds in your present life you are reborn in a not so good life(hell)
But you have the power to choose where you end up.

We know very little in matters of mind and spirit,
even less than our ancestors.
What i say may sound a bit bizarre, but i am getting there.

Do you honestly believe that? If you do it's just to make us feel important when in fact we're totally worthless and are in control of nothing.

Religion is a foul thing and its perpetrators will use any tactic they can to spread their power. The Crusades tried to convert by the sword and at that time, Muslims actually used the money conversion tactic far more. They had religious tolerance, but if you weren't Muslim, you had to pay a special tax, providing a monetary incentive to convert.

I certainly believe that - arguments about 'fate' aside, we all very much control our own destinies - who else could? Once we have been unleashed upon the world by our unsuspecting parents we are essentially 'free'. For some people this may mean slavery, for others it could be opulent wealth, but the decisions, albeit many may not be all that transparent are all up to the individual.

Really? what an absolutely splendid idea! A 'faith' tax  :D
Sure, you can believe, but it'll cost ya!

Wow Raisa, I'm suprised you brought this up. I bring this up to every Christian I meet. I talk about it all the time with my parents, who are both "born again" Christians.
If I get what you're saying correctley you mean this: Christians say that only those who reject Christ will be sent to hell. They believe that if you have never had the chance to hear about Christ you will be sent to heaven by default. So, when a Christian missionary comes into a village that has never heard of Jesus and tells them about him, wouldn't they be kind of fucking them over ? Before the missionary came, they were all going to heaven because they were "ignorant", but now that the missionary told them, they are going to have to make a choice, they are going to have to change and some of them are going to go to hell.
If you believe in what Christianity says, you are only hurting people be spreading the word of God.
You understood me exactly Urban.
LOL...wed all go to heaven if you christians would shut up!
So.... considering that point I made, if in the case that we can all go to heaven by default if we dont know about christianity, why tell us?

It is all senseless mythology. Contradictory, illogical, and laughable on so many levels.
Since the beginning of his/her time mankind has created these mythologies to deal with his own mortality and also establish a control mechanism for the masses. It is sad that even though we have the modern scientific method and empirical, obsevable, documentable facts that run contrary to all of mankinds insipid and presumptuous religions, most people are still too scared to let go, and they keep believing these fairy tales that contradict both themselves and each other.
The funny thing about missionaries (from any religion/cult) is that their entire premise to indigeounous natives or people of other faiths is this:
"You must believe in my illogical, unreasonable, unfounded faith-based belief system over your illogical, unreasonable, unfounded faith based belief system. If not, my belief system states that you will be punished."
Why did you even bother to stop believing in Santa Claus?
I suppose most of mankind still needs a guidebook to life, a crutch if you will, as well as something to assure him that life has meaning and that "there is more after this". People are terrified of finality. The biggest selling point of religion is the idea of an "afterlife".
It is, I suppose, an opiate for the masses. Sad, indeed.

This is a good 'un :D I've always taken it as this:
"JESUS DIED FOR YOU"
I find it doesn't really get much more complex than that
It's always tickled me that - After all I'm more than willing to stand up and be counted for my own sins, thank you very much. What'd you go and get yourself killed for you fool? ;)
