This movie isnt scheduled for a US release until August so I imported the DVD, simply amazing filmaking.
The story takes place thousands of years ago before the first emperor of china. the powerful King of Qin is under constant assassination threats, a minor official (Jet Li) comes into his kingdom and tells his story about how he defeated the three most deadly assassins after the king; Broken Sword, Falling Snow and Sky. What is told is a story with colorful cinetography and great story telling, while many people will compare it to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon it really stands on its own. It is definitly worth seeing. I dont know what exactly Miramax is going to do to the US release of them film, I have heard it may be dubbed and cut, so it will be best to get a copy of the Hong Kong DVD, as i have said in 2 other threads it is region 0 so it should play in most DVD players.

Great to know someone else has seen it. It is supposed to be released where I am (Australia) very soon, but I've seen it twice already!
One thing though, supposedly it is analogous to explaining/justifying why China is as nationalistic as it is. As in, the title of the film is actually describing the emperor.

Quite surprisingly, China's film critics seems a bit critical towards this film, and the box office didn't rocket in China nor Hong Kong, .... but you guys sure liked the film......... strange~

the reason why china film critics would be critical is because the film is pretty nationalistic

I just saw it.
Wasn't very impressed at all by this film.
The acting was pretty mediocre and the movie was full of very undialectical moral lessons.

First off, the acting wasn't mediocre at all. Broken Sword and Moon were both incredible. As to "undialectical moral lessons"...well aside from the obvious I have to criticize you for expecting propaganda from an epic "legendary" type story that takes place in ancient China.
Gove me a break

This movie is really awesome if you can get past the extremely lame parts. REALLY GOOD CINAMATOGRAPHY, Great acting, great story, mediocre fighting because of some just stupid lame stuff.

I can't stand that 100% passive, non-expressive shit that they do in all of these movies. Nobody fucking acts like that, and whatever message they're trying to get across has nothing to do with acting like a drone. And there's no way I'm gonna believe that people in ancient China acted that way. And that very last part where the title cards say "even today when the Chinese refer to their country, they cal it...... Our Land" Was that supposed to be moving or something, because I thought it was terribly tacky and cliché.
I wasn't expecting propaganda. I was expecting a relevant message from a movie that took itself so seriously as some kind of timeless classic revealing all the moral truths of war and peace. Give me a break!
The cinematography was kick-ass, however. Some of those scenes was just absolutely beautiful.

Wasn't Quentin Tarentino somehow involved in this? I saw his name on the poster and saw the film based on that, I'm not much of a fan of Jet Li. I wasn't expecting another Reservoir Dogs or anything, but this really wasn't my type of movie.
The cinematography was really great, with each telling of the story reflecting a different color, but the fight scenes where everyone is floating around and walking on water and shit was very cheesy. There were quite a few boring parts in there too, the acting was terrible, and the one word dialogue really pissed me off (Once again, expecting a Quentin Tarentino movie), but that may have been because of the subtitles. Very disappointing.

If you check the credits you'll notice that Tarantino had nothing at all to do with this film. It was made in China several years ago. I think the "Tarantino Presents" tagline is just a promotional stunt on the part of the studio and perhaps has something to do with Tarantino's role in getting the movie released stateside. I don't know!
