Why did Che insist that capitalism should only be overthrown by guerilla revolution? A Popular uprising is quicker, less costly and show the world that the people enstate communism by choice.

From Man And Socialism in Cuba
"Marx outlined the period of transition as a period which results from the explosive transformation of the capitalist system of a country destroyed by its own contradictions. However in historical reality we have seen that some countries, which were weak limbs of the tree of imperialism, were torn off first - a phenomenon foreseen by Lenin.

In these countries capitalism had developed to a degree sufficient to make its effects felt by the people in one way or another; but, having exhausted all its possibilities, it was not its internal contradictions which caused these systems to explode. The struggle for liberation from a foreign oppressor, the misery caused by external events like war whose consequences make the privileged classes bear down more heavily on the oppressed, liberation movements aimed at the overthrow of neo-colonial regimes - these are the usual factors in this kind of explosion. Conscious action does the rest.''
The trouble really begins when national liberation is achieved, as it only forces imperialism into defeat.
The most vital task of modern times is to ensure the
revolution in the advanced capitalist countries. As national liberation either leads to neo colonialism
or a country under seige, unable to democratise itself
or a country blackmailed into economic servitude, like Nicuagra. A revolution is a result not a method, the method is to revolve classes. A popular uprising can achieve this, so can guerrilla war develop into a popular
rising.
Our present subjective weakness actually hides the nature of the enemy, we see glimpses of it at demos,
the iron fist can show itself. Our present task is to popularise socialism and free it from the myths that are deep rooted in decades of cold war hegemony.
For the time will come when the whole irrational system
will obviate the absolute need for an alternative. Let us do everything in our power to accellerate this proccess
and make our position known and ready for the coming
class war.
