Why is a coup illegal? I mean, the founding fathers of America did it. Under Bush, a coup is classified as terrorist activity, and is illegal. In the Constitution, dosen't it say that if a government is to tyrannical, the people have a right to overthrow it?(I know that quote is vauge, but I don't wanna break out my Constitiution.)

Well, a Coup is generally commited by a small group of people with little, if any, support from the general population. A revolution, however, is when the population as a whole in in favor of overthrowing the government.

would a revolution not be illegal too though? after all the laws of any given land are set down by the rulers of said state...

A revolution is always going to be sort of illeagal.
Even if they say to do it in the constitution... the leader is going to oppose it. Thats what makes a revolution so hard.

No, really. If I was to try a coup in the U.S. I would be arrested for terroristic activity. I belive that the Founding Fathers completed a coup of sorts, so why is it illegal? I don't wanna hear about the "Univeral Law"
