Here's an idea that came to me last night.. read the argument before you read the plan for action..see what you think. first, it's based on this argument of mine:

The War on Terror

9/11 is rooted in unrestricted capitalism, there are many poor Muslims who see the USA as a glutton full of billionaires driving SUVs, watching TV, and eating at fast food restaurants at their expense, which is not just. The difference between economies in the world has got to change, for the good of humanity. Instead of this war on terror, which alienates an entire population as ‘terrorists’ and ‘evil.’ The fact is that desperate people commit desperate acts. The war on terror is not caused by religion; religion is only the vehicle. The cause is intense poverty. Instead of aiding a troubled population and fixing the root problem, the United States is starting a war against them. So now a people who feel, not without reason, that the Capitalist western world is the reason they are in poverty, see a war crush their homeland, bombs in there skies, and foreign troops occupying their country and rebuilding their government, and the USA’s action is supposed to be their liberation, the US is doing them a favor? There will always be poor people in a Capitalist society, and poor people will always resent the upper class, they cannot all be killed. The USA needs to give aid to desperate people, least be faced with terrorism for many long, bloody years ahead.

My theroy is that to fix the problem of terrrorism we must a.) give enormous amounts of excess money to poorer nations(through donations and otherwise), vastly change foreign policy (for instance, instead of buying excess crops from us farmers to give to third world countries, buy their crops and give it to them), make trade fair, perhaps work to create a worldwide minimum wage..ect. !
b.) continue to defend against terrorism in the usa.
c.) remove us troops from Iraq and Afganastan.

I'm sorry but it just makes absolutely no sense to be waging a war on terrorists... to do so would force the US to neutralize every single personw ho opposes the united states, and this will be nearly all the world. I am no way saying that 9/11 is a good thing, it was the most terrible thing i have ever seen, and that's why we can't let it happen again! a war on terror will result in years of bloodshed, and i dont want that! humanity is going to have to evolve sometime or destroy itself!

~

So, that's my argument. We can't just stand by and silently dislike the governments action when it could be this catastrophic!

We must be heard, let logic ring! So, I was kind of thinking that it would be effective to do something like have a group of people who disagreed with the war on terrorism to chain themselves to the white house fence and fast..hand out lots of paper's explaining our position so as not to come off as lunatics... maybe get a few celebrities involved..massive media coverage.. it's time to take a fucking stand!

Bush would be forced to do something.. he'd make a deal with us, it would really hurt his campaign if he let a group die in front of his home.. we could get the message out, and bush would almost certainly not win the next election..

So, anyway. me and my idealism. ;D but, i've already gone through the cynical phase, it's time to fucking stand up for principles, it's time to fucking stand up for life...

If you see any flaws in my logic , point them out of course.. if you have any ideas on maybe doing this.. that's cool.

perhaps it seems absurd to do something like this, but it's our world that we've got to save..

If you have any ideas, I may be starting a website for this.. if people like the idea.. if you'd like to talk to me email is [email protected] and aim is thegatesofthanos .

Listen to 'Political Science' by Randy Newman. It explains it all in about fifty words.

Peaceful protest will get you nowhere (imo) I'm afraid. Short of blowing up the whitehouse (possibly the worst thing you could do) I don't what action you could take. Please do try though - if we don't then there's really no point left :)

I will check out the song, thank's for the advice.

I must disagree that in this one case, words are louder than actions. Bush can call groups that atempts violence on him 'terrorists' and then their logic will be largely ignored.. but peaceful protest can change the mental outlook of a country..

it does not make sense to act violently to prevent violence, because even if bush were assasinated, the country would still be largely hostile to liberal veiws, therefore more violence

Nah. I think peaceful protest is great for some things.
If the general population doesnt know what you stand for one of the best ways to let them know what it is, and the seriousness and strength of the idea is to hold a non violent demonstration.

peaceful protest can get great media attention, but you have to understand how to manipulate a sensationlist media.

hunger strikes dont tend to make the news -not glamourous enough. if you are serious about the idea, get some nvda training.
i assume that you are in the usa? i believe the ruckus society holds training camps over there...

websites that friends have produced in austriala may be of use:

Just thought I'd better make it clear I'm more strongly opposed to violent resistance than passive... I don't think either would solve anything.

Unfortunately I'm a soft lefty and consider talk the solution  :D

u dont support non-violent resistence, but you are even more opposed to violence??

exactly what do you propose as an alternative?
