I've always been interested in the guerilla warfare aspect of the social movement, but I have a problem with some of the information I've been given. As far as I know, the Zapatistas are alright, but the other factions in Latin America seem a little shady to me. Groups like FARC and Sendero Luminoso that are into drug trafficking and violence towards peasants are a little hard for me to support. This label of "narco-terrorism" could be western propaganda, but its extremely hard for me to find an unbiased source on this subject. On the web its either the obviously biased western information or its the plain red and yellow pages with slogans like "ELECTIONS NO! PEOPLE WAR YES!" and I simply don't know who to trust on this. Any information would be appreciated.

Try this:

for FARC (http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/farc.htm)

Read the essay:
"Colombia's Paramilitaries: Criminals or Political Force"

for Sendero Luminoso (http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/sendero_luminoso.htm)

and for a list of all the movements/guerrilla units/paramilitary groups try here (http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/index.html)

Hope that helps, apologies if you've already seen the site
