What do people think of New 'Left' approaches to crime? Personally i think it's a joke, they have a completely skewed and often false perception of what the problems are because their methodology is seriously flawed. They interview 'victims' in order to assess what crimes they need to 'tackle,' the problem is that the people they interview are victims of imaginary crimes. One of the most important parts of their assesment of crime is to ask the 'victim' what crime they most fear and how safe they feel this leads them to conclude that corperate crime isn't important becuase people aren't scared of it and the main focus of their policies is in preventing 'yobs' from congregating on the streets and scaring old ladies. Another problem with their method of asking people what crimes they fear is that it results in their policies being aimed at reducing fear of crime instead of actually reducing the crime itself.
