I'm indecisive, I have no idea what to get. Please consider my taste, fi you knwo me at all, when choosing, because i may not like what you do. I can only really get one, because I'm low on cash. Please feel free to suggest any kind of music you think is really worth owning!

Tool Laterlus... or Tool Aenima.
Especially if you like A perfect circle.

Seeing that you both like Sick Of It All and Minor Threat I think you would really like this.
Buy Jerrys Kids, the record is called "Is This MY World?" IMO it is fucking brilliant. Some of the most hardcore music I ever heard. Just remember too buy "Is This MY World?" since some of the others ain't so good.

Of the ones listed I could only suggest the Minor Threat. November Coming Fire I assume is from Samhain. I have it and if you lived near me I'd give it to you, I think it sucks for the most part. The Misfits WERE light years better than Samhain.
As for other choices, something from one of the following:
X (from Los Angeles, not the other one)
Subhumans (from England, not the other one)
Blood or Whiskey
Stiff Little Fingers
Adjusters
Redskins
The Cramps
Mojo Nixon
The Pogues (with Shane MacGowan)
Chumbawamba
Conflict
Epoxies
H Block 101
Striknien DC
Paranoid Visions
Newtown Neurotics
Slime
Les Partisans
Dead Kennedys
Bad Religion
Misfits (with Glenn Danzig)
Scott MX Turner and the Devil's Advocates
Spunk Lads
You already own the Clash stuff, right?

Its pretty good, blue and the Noose are great songs, as are pet and the outside, the rest are all pretty average.
Tools Aenima, Lateralus, Undertow, opiate were all better.

The Minor Threat complete discography CD is amazing. I would go with "Blood, Sweat & No Tears" by Sick of it All, but if you can't get your hands on it, pick up the Minor Threat album.

Mars Volta are fookin amazing, I saw them live supporting the Chili's last year and they blew me away.
If you like MV check out At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command, it's a fucking amazing album.
MV & ATDI share the same vocalist and guitarist (who is cuban btw)

Okaaaaaay, this will take some time.
Enigma, Tool has been on my list for quite a while, so long that I think it may be coming off my list. I'm not really moving in that direction any more, but I'll consider it again, maybe have a listen in HMV or somewhere, before I make my final decision.
Teis, I'll remember that one and I'll see if I can find it, cheers.
Now time for a list of CD's I have, since Digital Nirvana is the first person to mention one. I have:
Fugazi - the argument
Dead kenndys - fresh fruit for rotting vegetables
the pixies - surfer rosa
mars volta - deloused in the comatorium
eden maine - (can't remember the name, sorry)
refused - shape of punk to come
a perfect circle - mer de noms
the clash - london callinh
Obviously i've got a load of other things, but these are the most relevant to this thread.
I don't have time to go through the other responses right now, I'll do so soon.
Except, NCF are a band, not the album, but named after the album. Their mini-album, or whatever it is, is doing pretty well over here. E-zine Punktastic gave them a pretty good review, check it out.

I'd recommend Sick of it All - Scratch the Surface. It isn't their best release but you should be able to find it in HMV. Oh yeah, and the Minor Threat Discography.
AND WILL PEOPLE PLEASE QUIT QUOTING FUCKING MAGAZINES/JOURNALISTS AS SOME SORT OF AUTHORITY ON MUSIC WHEN THE VAST MAJORITY ARE ON THE PAYROLL OF ONE OF MORE OF THE "BIG FIVE" LABELS
Thank you.
November Coming Fire are like The Misfits being raped by Converge in a small Kentish town. Simply awesome.

The Treachery Pact. I loved this record a year ago, but now I'm bored of that sound. I heard their new shit when they supported Converge last month, which was interesting. It sounded like some pro-life Christian "chaotic metal" shit which I'd try to hate but find catchy.

Yes indeed you should. I think it is some of the best hardcore made. I hope you can find it and that you will like it. Or else you will always be able to sell it. Even though it's not so known many underground people hold it in high regards.

Digital Nirvana, what's Ben Kweller like?
Rob, what are DYS like? Does that stand for anything? I don't recognise it.
MiniOswold, what's Joe satriani like?
atlanticche, I'm not very keen on Auf der Maur, I heard some of it and it just didn't do it for me. ATD-I are a distinct possibility, but as you may be able to guess from my list, I was thinking more hardcore.
celtopunk, where do you live? And which Misfits, stiff little fingers and bad religion albums/whatever should i get?

http://mp3spy.ru/en/band.html?b=BeqY2i91K
You can choose album and then songs etc and "aquire" them
When you get a song you want to "aquire" Right click on the bolded link and then save target as.
Some good songs, the first one being in my opinion the best they have ever done.

Ben Kweller is kinda sweet singer songwriter stuff, check out "wasted and ready" "falling" and "make it up" those are his best songs.
As you say you like hardcore stuff definatly get ATD-I, if you like mars volta you will love it. Same core members, quite similar, but so very different. Relationship Of Command is a classic album.

Celtopunk, thanks.
I quite like the Probot stuff but it's not what I'm looking for.
GR, was the journalist comment directed at me? And I don't just shop in HMV, I prefer Richard's or similar if I have the choice. Buying Cd's in HMV and co is a rare experience for me.
What are the merits of Blood Sweat & No tears over the other SOIA one mentioned, or should it be the other way around?

The comment was directed to whomever for which that is the case. And I shop at HMV sometimes, cos the two independent record stores in my town sell drum n bass and hair metal (which is worse than pop music) respectively. Also my friend works there and therefore has a shithot discount (she got me two Converge records :D).
BSNT is just my personal preference, probably related to seeing them live. You won't get better SOIA songs than "Injustice System" and "Friends Like You". That said, Scratch the Surface is probably the best SOIA record to start out with, since its pretty accessible while still keeping in touch with SOIA's original sound (unlike much of their recent stuff). Also it has "Step Down", which is undoubtably SOIA's most famous song. (Check the video if you haven't already - it's like an introduction to hardcore.)

It would be easier if I had a genre in mind.
But given the limited genres I like/know about, I say you get (as mentioned by others before) Aenima and/or Lateralus by Tool. APC stuff is optional (in other words, good, but not as good).
I know this might sound like a bit much, but maybe you could give a list of the CD's you own so that noone will suggest a CD you already have.
But that's just me.

Cthenthar, I listed most of the relevant cd's. I've also got all the marilyn manson stuff, glassjaw (may have mentioned that), HIM, placebo, no doubt (tragic kingdom), radiohead, ani difranco, anti-flag, etc. Maybe I'll do a proper list, and you can comment on my taste!!! Lol!
