Hello all, I am currently in the process of throwing about ideas with my colleges Philosophy Society about articles for a magazine or journal or whatever it will be.
As the guy who also studies English I have been asked to do two articles so basically what do you think are good topics that you would like to see if you came into college and for some reason picked up a magazine based on philosophy.
Its not a guge audience we aim for and it will not be a leftie audeince only so I cant write a polemic about Marx or anything.
So ideas would be gratefully accepted.

Actually that may just be a good topic considering its possibility and its probably something most people have heard about before coming into college.

In my experience not many people who don't study Philosophy care about it. I've had to endure many an ignorant opinion on the subject, too many times, too many times...

The philosophy of AIM and how it is changing the way we talk. Call me lowbrow, but it's interesting to think about how talking to people through a computer changes the way we communicate.

Might be an interesting idea, although may suit psychology more. Our internet persona's would be an interesting study though.

One of my acquaintances recently wrote a paper on the subject for his french philosophy class. If you so desired, I could find out more or put you in touch.

His AIM is Yardavich...do you have an AIM or something? Perhaps I can get him to send you an e-mail or something... I dunno. Sounds like an interesting topic, though.

Interesting sure but how would you research this? You'd have to know enough people well enough and their "internet personas".
What kind of methodology will you use to explore this or other subjects?

True but I know a few people who are regular posters at all kinds of forums even one on here I'm sure could help out.

I, for one, know that most if not all of the relationships that I've been in are a result of my being bolder while talking on Instant Messenger, as opposed to in real life.
Should I start a thread on this? It might be an interesting discussion.
