For a couple of years, I have been confronted with this question several times to attempt to 'counter' my problems with the American government.

" Why are you complaining? This is probably the only country in the world where you can even complain against your government, If you were in China, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc., they you would probably be shot. "

The first thing about this is if I have the right to complain, why are they telling me not to? That seems fairly ignorant to me. In addition. I cannot say what I want and get away with this. I'm sure the government won't hunt me down and shoot me, but they have made the country full of Right-Wing patriots. If I were to go in public and complain about the attacks onf Afghanistan, I'm sure that various people are going to yell at me, attack me, or try to kill me. This is not a country with " Freedom of Speech ", It never has been. If you criticize it, then you're bound to have another citizen kill you. The police will not care about this, and 'Law Enforcement' is becomeing obsolete these days. If there was actual freedom of speech, People like Imperial Power and Hardcore Capitalist would not be here insulting at us, and trying to make us think otherwise. People will say that the country is 'united now', yet it can't even keep it's own civilians from killing each other over.. A soccer game? Give me a break.. The day that there is freedom, I will be able to walk outside without getting insulted or threatened.

Do those morons think Cambodia's still "communist"? Cambodia is an absolute monarchy run by royalist deathsquads, not too nice. Then again, by the sounds of things, it seems that America is run by right-wing deathsquads.

America is run by Death Squads.. I live in it.. I know how it works, and I know what they're doing right now. The same thing Hitler did. They cause problems. They let crime go, they provoke deaths of innocent civilians. Hitler did this with his 'Browncoats', Noriega did this as well. Then, the leaders of the country claim that the only way that they can get rid of these problems are if they icrease taxes, join the military, declare martial law, etc. Pretty soon George W. Bush will probably claim that he needs to become a dictator in order to 'Combat Terrorism'. This was done in ancient rome as well. onyl one person at the time had a fire brigade, and when someones land caught on fire, they offered to buy the property at an outrageously low price. They had no choice, they either let their home burn to the ground, or sell it, in which case, the fire would be put out.

Freedom of speech is rife the world over and isn't just a US problem.
But seriously now most countries have just as much, if not more, freedom of speech as the US. It's just in your constitution which we all know can't be changed or ignored or anything like that......eh?

Drake, you're making a good start by expressing your views here. I really encourage you to become active in local politics. I too am becoming concerned about this war on terrirsm being used as a means to change aspects of our society that were once more open.

Brainwashing exists on both sides of the spectrum, right and left. Follow Che's example, live by your conscience, show your leadership, and iuse your respources to act for change. You sound like you have the passion to move mountains. Go for it. Death squads? What was Che's example?.....he yelled from the jungle (in so many words)...."you wanna piece a' me?????
