Well America is in another mess, A new Vietnam? US Soilders commiting suicide, Promises broken, Media Propaghanda machine on overdrive, the invasion of a foreign country all in the name of defense and defending freedom and democracy.
What year are we in?

There resistance around the world, the largest Protests in the history of the world have taken place objecting to the imperialist invasion of Iraq. The resistance in Iraq is happening... who are the leaders of the resistance? Who will be Iraqs next rulers?

One of the factions in Iraq is lead by Muqtada al-Sadr, a young Shia cleric. He has a militant following (the Al-Mahdi Army), it has no support from other Shia factions.

"I direct my words to the great evil, Bush, and I ask who is against democracy? Is it the one who is advocating peaceful resistance or the one who is bombing the nation and shedding blood?" - Muqtada al-Sadr

He has been in the news a lot lately, America has called him a ''thug'' and wants him captured or dead.

"The uprising will continue and we will not negotiate unless they fulfil our demands, which are a withdrawal from populated areas and the release of prisoners," al-Sadr aide Qays al-Ghazali

"This insurrection shows that the Iraqi people are not satisfied with the occupation and they will not accept oppression," - Muqtada al-Sadr

The American death toll stands at 709. One estimate had Iraqi civilian casualties at 10,000+.

The war is a mess, Spain is pulling out... how many others will? How many must die for Bush's ''Crusade''?

Well whats everyone think of the war, al Sadr and all the rest of it?

Blair is probably already starting to regret his decision to stay as Bush's lapdog and help him invade Iraq.

Bush will pay for this illegal imperialist invasion when Americans vote in their election in November.

Iraq has been chucked into a vacuum of power and is at the eye of a violent and bloodthirsty storm.

I dont think many countries will stay in the coalition much longer. I predict that soon it will simply be America, Britain and Australia in a war that is destined to be Vietnam II.

I thought this was a very interesting piece of news about Sadr's movement: Inter-Press Service (http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/FD23Ak05.html)

Apparently, over the past several months, the Sadrists have organized local elections "in much of the Shi'ite-dominated south of Iraq". In contrast to the U.S. occupation, which has refused to hold any actual elections with the exception of a few small towns in Nassiriya province. This is the first time I've seen any report on the fact of these elections.

While I don't think the Sadrists have majority support among Shi'a, and certainly they're a rightist movement in many respects, the occupiers have been lying when they call the "Mahdi Army" just a handful of thugs. Rather, it's a political movement with a sizeable following, which runs social institutions in many areas. And it's laughable when the occupation claims to be defending democracy against them....
