We really need you guys to only choose 2 guitarists.
If you post a list, we'll either neglect your choices or choose the two first ones.
Great choices, so far, by the way! :)

definately an awesome choice
anyway, if somebody has already posted a guitarist, pick somebody else.
yeah. just two please. if you pick two and see somebody else you'd like to see on the list, PM one another member who hasn't posted yet and harass them to post.
Chinna is mighty, Cani, but Al Anderson...is awesome.
He even knew Steve Winwood! (http://www.beepworld.de/members4/antjii/seite5.htm)

Al Anderson pisses me off. He really comes across as full of shit, to me. He seems to try and talk as if he's some sort of spiritual guru. Too much rock guitar solo business for reggae too.
Ernest Ranglin is better than Chinna, check out his album with Monty Alexander, "Below the Bassline". On it he does reworkings of lots of classic reggae rhythms, such as "None Shall Escape the Judgement", "54-46 (Was My Number)" and "Satta Massagana".
It is closer to a jazz album than a reggae album. He is an amazingly talented guitarist, and Monty Alexander is a brilliant piano player and arranger also.
Another great reggae guitarist is Hux Brown, who worked a lot with Leslie Kong, and is responsible for the amazing little guitar lick in the Wailers' "Caution".
The album Leslie Kong produced with the Wailers has Hux Brown all over it, playing those sweet licks. Great stuff.

I was thinking about a live version of Rastafari Is, but that's cool.
The concrete jungle from Catch A' Fire?
Did Tosh cover the guitar on that?
anyway, what 4 on the list would be #1 seeds, you think?
canikickit
28th April 2004, 02:45
Which version of Concrete Jungle are you talking about redcanada?
I'm aware of three versions involving Peter - An earlier, circa 1969/70 version produced by Lee Perry
The original Jamaican master tapes from Catch a Fire
The version of Catch a Fire which initially recived an international release on Island records.
The third version is probably the one you mean, I'm guessing. It has a very atmospheric ringing guitar sound which really captures the mournful theme of the song. However, it wasn't played by Peter Tosh, it was played by a session player named Wayne Perkins who happened to be in a studio upstairs doing some guitar work.
Perkins also played the a similar guitar sound on "Rock It Baby" from the same album.
I'd strongly recommend this documentry:
http://www.iration.com/wailers/catchafire.html
Peter's live guitar work demonstrates a fine use for a wah-wah peddle.
Here is some information about the Concrete Jungle song:
http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Disco...creteJungle.htm (http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Disco/6032/ConcreteJungle.htm)
That's a good site.

I was wondering about this. Wayne Perkins is really funny, if you ever find interviews with him. I pity the fool.

For Clapton you should use the breakdown from "White Room"
