Maya Art

What do all of you think of Maya and other precolombian Latin American art? I'll give a few examples of Maya art here.. much of it is ceremonial, and even brutal.

This isn't a great example, but the sculptures and temples of the Maya were exceedingly intricate and beautiful:

It is a horrible shame to see how much culture has been lost through colonialism. The sculptures are surely the best :)

agreed. the pyramids built in South america by the indigenous peoples are much more beautiful than any in Egypt. (In my own opinion).

It would be a shame if we lost what the world has left of these cultures of bygone times. So much culture is not seen in the West, where we see little of the cultures of the Mayans and other indigneous peoples.
