The CPGB is *VERY* active, so anyone in UK looking to join a true and active Communist Party....check it out.
This is the website of the Communist Party of Great Britain. Our Party actively supports the struggle against Blair's war on Iraq - we say our main enemy is at home. But as communists, we are also enemies of the system that produces war time and time again - capitalism. Get active with us in that fight for a better world! Send us your email and we'll keep you posted of events and campaigns.
The Party Holds a yearly Communist ''Uni'' event with members from many left Partys talking about aims and Theory of Marx and Communism.

Or this may end up in the trash.

To me they seem more interested in writing about other left groups than actually doing something. That was the impression I got from looking on their website.

Yes, I buy the Weekley Worker (CPGB paper) and they frequently change positions, they wanted to 'reclaim the socialist alliance' from the SWP domination, although at the same time were sympathetic to reclaiming the Labour party. When the SWP formed RESPECT they opposed it, however the socialist alliance has now pretty much died altogether and the CPGB are now looking to participate in RESPECT.
Teis is correct also, they write more articles on the SWP etc than worldwide events. They are certainly not the worst 'communist party' I have come across, but there is no way I would join them.

Yes but the Tory party is 'better' than the BNP, this does not make them anything worthwhile though does it?

I used to be a member of them after I left the SWP.
My views are similar to what you lot have said of the CPGB, better than the SWP or the CPB, but the CPGB has its own faults like all groups, which is why I lost interest in them.
Although I see no way that Labour could ever be 'reclaimed', although Labour was never socialist so you cannot reclaim it as it was never anything but moderate social democratic now turned to a neo-liberal free market militaristic ideology.

It doesn't seem that way to me. How are they the best you got in Britain? I mean there is myriads of groups in Britain.

There are certainly myriads of parties in britain but that's half the problem. If you looked hard enough you may well find a group more sympathetic to your views but if you find that sect is that "better"?
I'm myself still looking for a party and I've considered joining them. I'll need to find out more first.

Nevermind BOZG unless you want to join a highly centralized party and international ;)
Seriously if we compare socialist party to socialist appeal the latter have a much healthier international outlook. I read the "reply" to Sewells postscript and I was amazed of how little Peter Taffe knew IMO.
But I know BOZG probably has another view on this. (or else he of course wouldn't be a member)

I wish they could all unite into a communist party of britan but it wouldn't be the current one of course it would be a mixture of them all.

A new strong communist party will be build on the basis of the masses when they go on the move. It will not be build just because a small sect claims it.
That's my oppinion on the subject

What the hell is wrong with the SWP?
Anyway the communist university is run by the Communist party of Britain not the CPGB.

As far as I can see the SWP is heavily centralised both nationally in Britain and internationally, with the various "International Socialist" groups getting orders from Britain. That's probably also why so many of them split away. It's not democratic centralism just centralism.
But that's just my oppinion.
i heard that CPGB are not active at all and just want a return to old labour.
