I personally think Rage, you can hear what they are preaching alot clearer, and they also give you plenty of contacts.

So many choices...
I haven't listened to Manic that much and I haven't heard RATM since the first album so I'll make a somewhat ignorant choice and pick RATM.
However I'd prefer to pick any one of the following:
Dead Kennedys
Conflict
Subhumans
Citizen Fish
Neurotics
Scott MX Turner
The list goes on and on and on...

But the Manics and Rage are the 2 biggest ones I could think off, completely forget about the kennedys, should have out the clash in as well shouldnt I? Damn, anyway I think Manic's are more subtle in their political message which makes you think more, RATM are just "fuck you" "fuck authority" etc

Musically the manics own, RATM. James Dean Brafield has one of the best voices in music, for a long time, and in the top two or three around today in rock. Vocals it seams Manics score again. Lyrics, I suppose it depends on the song, but I doubt your going to find better lyrics than in "If you tolerate this", or say "Archive of pain", or LA TRISTESSE DURERA. Which probably has the best lyrics for any song I've heard in rock.
Manics score again.
3-0 to the manics.
The manics own RATM.
you can hear what they are preaching alot clearer
Leftism for dummies aye? Well the manics have made songs which are just as blatant as any RATM song: -
"Gold against the soul
White liberal hates slavery
Needs Thai labour to clean his home
Gold erodes
Erodes the soul
Erodes the soul
A 1000 Marlboro death ignored everyday
And who gives a shit about sexuality
Gold against the soul
Working class cliches start here
Either cloth caps of smack victims
Gold destroyed
Destroyed the soul
Destroyed the soul"
You find me a more obvious sonf with leftist messages than that. Gold against the soul.
so to me ratm's political message is louder than manic street preachers
Volume control? :P

I go with the Manics, RATM are just kinda of brash loudies who cater for the rebelling teenager. The Manics message can be subtle but hey my opinion was cemented when the Manics met Fidel.

Absolutly, however the manics can give you that touch of brash rebellion, as well as the subtle beuty of songs such as roses in the hospital.

The reason I love the manics are because their political message seems so more real then "fuck you I won't do what you tell me" which just seems to be a statement of anger and teenage rebelion, whereas something like "if you tolerate this" and "design for life" are great songs with a much deeper political message.
