Besides, don't think you're gonna get much done there, you've got 5 endorsements, the current delegate has 67.

This is the first time that I have heard about this and I instant was as enthousiastic as a schoolgirl - so to speak.

I founded a nation The Freeland of Organized Proletarians

My nations discription:

Location: the West Pacific
The Free Land of Organized Proletarians is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, liberal, socially-minded morass -- devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 44%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Basket Weaving.

Crime is well under control. Organized Proletarians's national animal is the dodo, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the roebel.

The Issue

A recent anti-government rally by highly disgruntled teens has brought a previously minor issue to the fore- should people be permitted to burn Next Please's flag, or should it be a crime?
The Debate

1. "We should be able to burn the flag as a sign of protest. I say ignore those crazy red-blooded fanatics who won't let us! After all it's because we are a tolerant nation that we should allow it!" says Jazz Mombota, civil rights activist, while trying to wave a burning flag without lighting anybody nearby on fire.
[Accept]

2. "Burning should be allowed for everything! Down with the pig cops and their repressive regime!" says known well known anarchist and arsonist Hope Silk, from the comfy and non-flammable confines of a prison cell. "Burn! Burn burn burn! Everything! Kyahahaha!"

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

3. "These barbarians are suggesting burning the flag of our glorious nation as if it were a piece of scrap cloth! First it's burning the flag, and before you know it, it's rebellion and anarchy!" Fleur McGuffin scowls, "Flag burning should be punishable by jail terms and a good flogging."
[Accept]

The Government Position

The government has indicated its intention to follow the recommendations of Option 2.

The Armed Republic of Hajek

"Freedom for those who are willing to fight for it"

UN Category: Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights: Excellent Economy: Fragile Political Freedoms: Very Good

Location: The North Pacific
The Armed Republic of Hajek is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The enormous, socially-minded government devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 39%, but much higher for the wealthy. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Woodchip Exports industry.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown. Hajek's national animal is the tiger, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the ruski.

Oh, and I thought you might find this interesting.

A little role playing by me, against one of the Ernesto-guevara.com stalin kiddies in our region:

The Anarchist Collectives of Mutual Liberty hereby declare war on the Republic of Nicolae Ceausescu.

This corrupt dictatorship, under the guise of Communism, has crushed the revolutionary spirit in its lands. Nicolae Ceausescu is a class traitor, a bourgeois tyrant selling lies of a worker's utopia.

He has built something much worse than a deformed worker's state, a reformed capitalist's state.

Furthermore, the Anarchist Collectives of Mutual Liberty can no longer tolerate the saboteurs from this republic, meddling and attempting to reinstitute property and the state in our lands.

85% of collectives agreed to this statement, and each one of them will begin rearming the voluntary militias. The other 15% may not be directly involved in the attack, but we warn that traitor Nicolae Ceausescu that they are ready and prepared to fight to defend their revolution.

Companeras, companeros, join us in crushing the enemy within!

The government pours millions of freds into rehabilitation programs annually, reports of attacks by bright purple sixty-foot high spiders have recently shot up1, the capital of Next Please has burned to the ground and caused riots throughout the country2, and flash floods that dams could have controlled regularly ravage small towns in mountain valleys3. Crime is well under control, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Next Please's national animal is the maybe, which is also the nation's favorite main course4, and its currency is the fred.

Help! I have this issue (below) I don't like any of the suggestions and I don't like the probable reprucusions for just dismissing the issue. What to do?

The Issue

In a display of unity that can best be described as "highly unnerving," criminals and law enforcement officials alike are up in arms about recent overcrowding within prisons in Next Please.
The Debate

1. "I tell ya, chief... this ain't good," mutters local police chief Thomas Winters over his morning cup of coffee. "I see these no-good mohawk-wearin' punks every day, and they're a dangerous bunch. They gotta be locked in their mudholes forever! If we can't afford to keep 'em in prison, I say we need more money! Let's just casually shift some funding from elsewhere; after all, it ain't like our welfare program is helping keep these kids away from crime."
I don't like this one, jails aren't the answer for everthing, and this would move money away from welfare.

2. "How can these wayward individuals find their inner selves by staring at the walls within a stone cell?" challenges human rights activist and local prison license plate maker Freddy Dodinas "The nation's budget is absolute proof: we cannot afford prisons... strictly because of their immorality! Let these caged birds breathe the sweet air of freedom again! Shut down all prisons in Next Please!"
Shutdown prisons? But what about the murderours(sp?) and rapists? I'm fine with just letting theives go but rapists?

3. "Now hold on just a second here," says Max du Pont, CEO of Next Please's most widely-known pizza delivery chain, Papa Pallocci's Pizza Pagoda. "You've got a problem with prisoners, and I've got a problem finding employees. Why don't you just send some of your criminals to Papa Pallocci's? We'll put 'em to work at lower pay as punishment for their crimes! I win, you win... the economy wins!"
fucking capitalists

The Government Position

The government has yet to formalize a position on this issue.

If you wish, you may simply dismiss this issue.
[i] if I do this it will say that my nation has over crowded prisons. Thats bad me thinks. Got to be a better way. I know more money for education, make a number of things not crimes, arg there are plenty of things.[i/]

Actually things do happen if you dismiss issues. I once dismissed a water issue (somebody wanted water restrictions), the next time I looked, there were riots over lack of water.

The fifth option (which is what I have been doing) is not picking anything or dismissing the issue. But I think I shall select the second one.

You do not have to join Socialist Union to get one, although anyone is welcome.

There is a new user group set up dedicated to ambassadors who have full reign over the embassies, including moderating powers and are able to access other embassies to start treads or replies. This can help you forge alliances and build relations.

Finally! No more kids selling lemonade on the sidewalks!

The Issue

Big business, fed up with over-regulation in Next Please, are heading offshore in ever-increasing numbers.
The Debate

1. "Good riddance!" says noted environmentalist Akira du Pont. "Sniff that air! It's never been so clean! At last, our society is freeing itself from the consumer death-trap! I say it's time to take the final step and outlaw capitalism once and for all!"

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

2. "This is a catastrophe waiting to happen," says the Chamber of Commerce. "Think of the consequences! Without big business, where do the jobs come from? Where do we get our medicine? Our cars? Our latest fashions? There are dozens of useless regulations the government could abolish today to make life easier for commerce, and it's high time they did."

Comrade Vistadin is there, he's put a stroke of genius through the UN for abortion rights. Some of the nations (Blackbird and Jumalvuori) are regualr visitors to the top10 on various leftist issues (out of 120,000 odd nations, that's an achievement). Others aren't too far behind.

The region doesn't matter unless you are in the UN. As the UN is a farce, you shouldn't join. Therefor the region doesn't matter. (And I was in a region called Tasmania, but I got lonely (only person in it) and moved to the Anti-Capitalist Alliance (which has less right-wingers then the Proletariat Coalition).)

I'm now a member of the SU. The maybes are still a bit airsick but they'll get over it. There are still a few that remember the journey from the Pacific to Tasmania then to the Anti-Cappitalist Alliance, but most of them can't remember anything else.

The region's a bit smaller then what we are all used to, but only a few citizens don't like it so far. And for the third time we outlawed capitalism.

UN Category: Liberal Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Imploded
Political Freedoms: Excellent

The People's Republic of Lutoibre is a very large, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 84 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Prime commercial land is being swamped with archaeological teams, there's a shortage of swinging hot spots as land development grinds to a halt, citizens are expected to be proficient in at least five languages, and euthanasia is illegal. Crime is totally unknown. Lutoibre's national animal is the pig, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the bacon.

Oh, so you've never come to Hungary? Did you learn anything about the Hungarian way of socialism and the first secretary Kádár? I think it's worth the effort.
Kádár was a very interesting person if we consider it interesting that someone who rules a country for 32 years never became a megalomaniac and never had paranoia!
In fact one could hardly tell his "villa" from the surrounding buildings of the neighbours. Unlike Enver Xhodja's, Ceausescu's or Stalin's.
Here is some info on him:
http://www.encyclopedia.com/html/K/Kadar-J1a.asp

It's short and rather correct though it could be better.

I attached a picture of him

the United Communist states of Leyone.

"The United Communist States of Leyone is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.149 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Voting is voluntary, citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, the sound of wooden legs echo throughout Leyone after the recent introduction of the Foot Tax, and major cities shut down as their local sports team takes to the field every day. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Leyone's national animal is the tiger, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the leyone.

Leyone is ranked 22nd in the region and 96,294th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry"

Some say we now have "goulash-capitalism :D ". I don't know much about the other former sattelite countries, maybe something about Romania, Yugoslavia and of course the USSR.
If the Serbiand didn't want to keep big Yugoslavia, all the former Yugo countries would be as well off as Hungary is or maybe better!

The Rogue Nation of Skorpian
"Law is not about obeying. It's about not getting caught"

http://www.jokey2000.de/page/assets/images/db_images/db_rebel_weed_flag__1_.jpg
UN Category: Corrupt Dictatorship
Civil Rights: Some
Economy: Weak
Political Freedoms: Unheard Of

Location: Anarchy
The Rogue Nation of Skorpian is a tiny, safe nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 6 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, corrupt, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 35%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Voting is compulsory. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Skorpian's national animal is the scorpion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the drake.

Skorpian is ranked 78th in the region and 100,026th in the world for Most Pro-Market Nations.

The Socialist Republic of Astamonia is a huge, socially progressive nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 623 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

A well-funded social safety net protects the unfortunate, the nation's first space rocket -- sponsored by Pepsi and shaped like an enormous soda bottle -- is being developed, shops were recently ransacked as cigarettes returned to the shelves, and Rupert Bear is considered to be the most risqué TV program in Astamonia. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Astamonia's national animal is the eagle of the republic, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the ASTuro.

The Technate of Airstrip Scotia is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.014 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Heavy industry must go to expensive lengths to dispose of waste and avoid even more costly cleanup costs, the government is making attempts at curtailing the flood of spam emails with little progress, elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume, and there's a shortage of swinging hot spots as land development grinds to a halt. Crime is totally unknown. Airstrip Scotia's national animal is the zombie, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the credit.

Airstrip Scotia is ranked 3rd in the region and 105,292nd in the world for Rudest Citizens.
