Comrade Marcel
16th April 2004, 16:51
On Sunday, April 18 at 2pm at the Friendship House, 280 Queen St. W. - we invite you to come on this day, to share an afternoon of music, songs, food, excellent information and inspiring analysis of the world situation. You will see an excellent video, you will hear about plans for holding the Second World Congress for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People --- and much, much more!
Dear friends and comrades:
We are informing you that the new executive of the Toronto Branch of Canadian Friends of Soviet People, together with the Editorial Board of Northstar Compass are actively working and energetically revitalizing our friendship work, with the added presence of youth who have joined our efforts for the much needed work that has to be done.
The world is not a better place now as we had hoped it would be. The disappearance of the Socialist camp was a great defeat for humankind (although we know that this will not be always so). Today, US Imperialism stands as the most powerful enemy of humanity, with no one to stand in its way. The armies of US imperialism and its obscene hunger for profits march over countries, trampling anyone that stand in its way. We watched this development with horror and indignation. However, the renewed onslaught of US destructive capitalism only reafirms our principles to fight against it, to expose and denounce its foul stench, whenever and wherever we smell it.
Thousands, indeed millions in the world are voicing and indeed fighting against US Imperialism and its partners --- in Iraq and Palestine and in Latin America, Venezuela has become a beacon of hope for all Latin Americans. In the former USSR and in other former people's democracies, the struggle is taking on a more organized character, with demonstrations, strikes and protests being heard of more each month. There are scores of young Soviet political prisoners languishing in jails in Russia, Ukraine and their NAZI inspired New World Order!
Here in Toronto, as Canadian Friends of Soviet People, we must contribute our grain of sand against this mighty foe. We have done it for many years, and now we must revitalize even more our energies in order to improve our much-needed outreach.
It is because of all this, that we are inviting you to come out and welcome our renewed initiative, meet the executives, but foremost, come to celebrate the life of those who are still holding the Red Flag up high and have not given up or betrayed their principles.
