I've been trying to figure this out what che's real last words were, and so far the most at large version is "shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man." I've also heard the Bolivian govt's version (I am Che Guevara, and I have failed.) and one other in a book(Tell my wife that she should remarry.). I'd tend to trust the Bolivian version the least, and the book's version the most (seeing that the author did research on the subject). I realize that there probably isn't any definite answer to this, but does anyone have any more useful information that could prove or disprove any of these?

there was a book i read by 2 people who followed che's life and made a dairy like book on everyday of his life(or the major days).

I really believe he said "shoot your only going to kill a man" because i read the day he got captured the bolivian army officals were questioning him, and he spit on them, then they pulled his hair, and he responded by slapping them.(his hands has been tied with rope).

It seems like he knew he was going to die, and tried to be strong even until the end.

I'm pretty sure it's "shoot, you'll only kill a man" seem's the most realistic.

I like the "tell my wife to remarry one" great last words for a revolutionary hero, don't actually expect he said it though!

I have heard the "shoot, you'll only kill a man" version and it seems more likely...

I believe that "shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man." is the true version because Ernesto was a hero and these words are the words of a hero.

There's something that I would like to know : what was his last thought about ?
Cuba ? His wife ? Argentina ?

"Shoot Coward, You're only going to kill a man". I believe those words because I seriously doubt anything less than this could have came from such a man in such a situation.

PLease becareful not to over romanticise his death, he was a hero - but tis not always the case, as in hollywood movies, that the hero has great last words.

Its certaintly a possibilty, that those were his words and they match the situation well, but its merely speculation

I agree with this, it is so easy when their is a gap in evidence to fill it in with something that sounds good, but is false. For all we know he may not have had the chance to say anything before he was shot dead.

Actually, I researched it for day and night, and I finally found it.

Che: 'Hey, check this out...that shouldn't be on that...is that a pimple?'

Bolivian soldier: 'Ah gross...'

POW!

from what i read, he did instruct his wife to remarry. They were drinking coffee or something with their house keeper, and che asked the house keeper "what happened to the wives of men killed during the revolution" and she said that they'd all remarried, then che told his wife to do the same if he were to die.
