Hate Is Art

Both films come out this week, what should I see?
Girl Next Door has that fit bird from 24 in it.
Hidalgo looks like it could be quite a good film, it has viggo mortensen in it, and he is a cool actor.
Girl Next Door, doesn't seem to have loads going for it exept the girl, which is a pretty big plus

I would see neither.
If you have to see one, Hidalgo is probably a bit better as far as cinematic quality and screenplay quality....
but I hear Girl Next Door is pretty good as a soft porn.
So I'd go with the latter since both seem to lack actual quality.

Kill Bill Vol 2

the Odeon in Brighton is *****y about stuff like that though, you need idea to get into an 18 else they don't sell you the tickets!
truthaddict11
14th April 2004, 21:30
heres what you do, buy a ticket for some crap film playing at the same time as Kill Bill Vol 2 and sneak into KB. I find it amusing that you can see a teen sex romp but not a Tarantino flick. Damn UK censorship and restrictions you guys are almost as bad as us, luckily we get most of our movies uncensored. For example from what a heard the heart ripping scene from Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom isnt in the UK release but is in other countrys with region 2. Wasnt Clockwork Orange banned over there?

its great to go into films that you are not old enough for,
theres an odeon over on bournemouth(close to me), but they didnt bother to check about power n' stuff so they built but because of how the power grids work they cant use it, it is a large useless building on the seaside,
Hidalgo looks terrible, i suppose those of you who like the look of it also liked the last samarui,
i went to se dawn of the dead last night, i had wanted to go see shaun of the dead but the asshole i went had to bring his girlfriend and we couldnt see it, but still it was a good movie, messed up, and had an ending well before the credits that i hated and provoked me to say at the top of my voice to say bollocks, but had a kick ass sound track so i headbanged my way through the credits, im gonna go see shaun of the dead now when i go to see kill bill vol2
has anyone else heard any of these rumours of a volume 3 of kill bill?

no, QT's next movie is Inglorious Bastards, a Kill Bill anime prequel is in the works QT is writing it. It will focus on Bill.
I havent seen Shuan yet but i heard it uses the much much better soundtrack by Goblin and other music in the original movie.

hidalgo, definitely. i can't believe you'd consider girl next door or any quentin tarantino movie. one is just sex appeal and the other is just blood and guts with a pretense of being deep.
everyone is full of BULLSHIT here!

More importantly, the writers/directors of the Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, Fargo, Barton Fink, Intolerable Cruelty, Millers Crossing, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, etc, have just come out with their new film.
Joel and Ethan Coen's new movie....

I loved Raising Arizona, I have to see thier new film too. and sorry Diana but a Tarantino movie is much better than a Viggo movie.
If you want to wait 15 years for a Vol 3 thats fine with me! I dont see it happening, ever. Inglorious Bastards and the Kill Bill anime prequel seem very interesting.

Good suggestion!
The Ladykillers is a very excellent film. Go see it! It's fucking hysterical. The acting is great, the characters are funny, and the screenplay is briliant.
You're kidding me, right?
LadyKillers sucked. It was boring. Only 2 scenes out of the entire movie were funny. People started walking out, I wish I had joined them.

The Coen brothers have never failed me yet.
Although they did that George Clooney thing recently which was probably not great.
Last thing I saw in the cinema was Kill Bill, I think. Now there's a load of crap.

You mean 'O Brother Where Art Thou'? That is among my favourite movies of the past 5 years.
The Ladykillers, I think was good, (*.
Irma Hall was clearly the best. She fucking stole the movie. I expected Tom Hanks to do that, but he didn't and it was briliant.
You can clearly tell that it was a Coen Bros. movie. The dark comedy, the strange barge constatly passing underneath the bridge for no apparent reason other than to cath dead guys, the incredibly unpredictable ending. It was good!

Oh no, not "Oh Brother...", I forgot about that.
Wasn't George Clooney in some other one of their more recent films, with Catherine Zeta Jones? I haven't seen it, but it looked like more of a Rom-Com deal.
'O Brother Where Art Thou' was very enjoyable.
"Intolerable Cruelty"
Indeed it was. I could only make it half way through.
Sabocat
16th April 2004, 10:43
Yeah, I agree, Intolerable Cruely wasn't up to the Coen standards, but O' Brother was brilliant.
I'm going to see The Lady Killers tonight. I can't wait.

Intolerable Cruelty looked like the standard Rom Com affair, no hugh grant though, which is a dissapoinment.

hugh grant can be described as one thing, A FOPPISH DANDY!

i dont want to wait 15 years for a part three, though i think it would be pretty cool and kick ass, its to long to wait and by then it would of lost inpact on me, i was just hoping there was some truth to the rumour,

QT was probally joking, what would be the logic in that? If it was gonna be a movie (which I doubt) just shoot it after the Vega Bros movie (rumoured to be QT's next after Inglorious Bastards) and use another actress. Seriously why wait 15 years? Did Francis Ford Copola wait seven years to film Godfather Part 2? No you just use different actors for certain roles.

i know he was joking but when i first heard of it i hadent looked at it myself and found out about fifteen, ive only continued talkin about it because the idea of that kinda film would kick ass

Well....I saw "The Lady Killers"....
Brilliant. Another Coen classic.
I was laughing so hard I was crying. Favorite scenes, definitely when Pancake was showing proper handling of explosives, the many attempts on the old lady...
The ending was perfect.
