You would think that two such famous and profound men living at the same time would have a few things to say about each other, but I have never heard a single reference to either, from either. Can anyone tell me if they commented on each other at all?

Marx often read like he was writing the words with pen clenched in one fist and the other holding down the paper he brutally murdered :)

Yes, I would imagine Marx would have "comments" about Nietzche's comments about him :)

They never meet anyway, never in the same country and Im pretty sure neither read each other but I could not be certain.

Nietzsche believed all politics was prostitution of the intellect so I cant imagine he cared much for Marxism. I'll have a look into it Im in college so I'll check in the library later as they are among my two favourite philosophers.

Nietzsche hated socialists and anarchists, so he probably dislike Marx.

He also hated liberals and conservatives though, politics in general.

That's not exactly true.

Nietzsche supported Rome and the aristocratic feudalism.

Of course, this wasn't a political ideology--it was a path to the goal of attaining a society based on aesthetics and such.

Sure but as such he is not a political philosopher, some people would look at that and think he wanted to spread some kind of fascist elitest dictatorship when his main arm was to have as little state as possible in order for art to flourish.

I don't agree that he wanted "as little state" as possible. He wanted WHATEVER government allowed art to flourish the best.

Ezra Pound supported fascism for the same reasons.

I am recalling an aphorism there 'As little state as possible'.His words not mine.

How would you explain his liking Rome?

He was making a statement based on current situations. If he were alive when Pound was, I wouldn't be surprised if he supported fascism.

Way to ignore his post.

I didn't "ignore" his post.

I posted my analysis of the statement.

The Portable Nietzsche by Walter Kauffman should serve as a useful intro.
